I have a question:

How is Magic Duels: Origins and Xbox One exclusive when it had a PS4 release date of next month?

It's a timed exclusive from what I can. Tomb Raider is also a timed exclusive. Regardless, that counts as an exclusive in my book.

With a 2014 release date

Ninja Gaiden 2 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 were different games in a lot of way. The reason this was is simply because they can't use any assests that Microsoft contributed to as well as the name they bought. So again rise of tomb raider won't be on ps4. Also, phil said (which everyone seems to ignore) he won't make games or fund games that will show up on the rival platform and compares the deal to dead rising and ryse. Which those games went multiplatform because it showed up on the PC.

1.Microsoft didn't buy the Tomb Raider name and he clearly stated that the deal he has has a duration.

2. People might be ignoring it because he never said it, Phil Spencer said that he wouldn't fund the development of a version on a rivals system, so he won't fund the PS4 version of RoTR, nowhere did he say that he's stopping SE from funding it themselves.

3. Google Ryse PS4, you will find an interview in which Crytek says they are open to a PS4 version of the game. MS is not stopping them. The reason Ryse and Dead Rising 3 are not on PS4 are not because of MS.

And if Tomb Raider won't come to PS4 why won't he just say it? Like they did with Titanfall or like Sony did with SFV? Give one good reason for that.

1. Obviously he didn't pay for tomb raider franchise, but doesn't mean he can't buy a title from the franchise and make it exclusive.

2. Sure square enix can fund the game, but they can't use any assets that microsoft contributed to so that means they would have to start from scratch in many areas.

3. Sure, he is open to it, but doesn't mean he can (or easily can) he has to probably redo alot of things and make sure nothing in the game is what Microsoft contributed to (if he could make the ps4 version why hasn't he already?). Also, spencer said plenty of time he will not talk about rival platform at all (or at least tries to). He is focus on xbox and to a certain extent on PC. Also, he probably doesn't want to talk too much about it because he wants to promote xbox and doesn't want anyone to know of a pc version. Titan Fall was released on pc the same day as the xbox version so it make sense to go ahead and talk about it.

However, go ahead and wait for a ps4 version. Maybe you will get lucky and square enix buys the rights to the game and allows the game to release on ps4 at the end of the generation just like the original mass effect.

What the hell? Tombraider is owned by SE not MS. When MS said Tombraider was an exclusive they had to recract that statement later on. IF you are right and Tombraider IS an XB1 exclusive, Tombraider as a franchise dies and SE deserve what will follow.

They don't own the rights to Rise of the Tomb Raider. Microsoft is publishing that game. You can give up rights to a certain title in your franchise without giving up the whole franchise.

And this, folks, is the reason why you need to fact check.

Kagari said that SE planned to release Tomb Raider in the spring, between 4-6 months after the release of the XBO version. And if you still doubt it, then I'm glad to tell you that the info is also Bish-checked

EDIT: First link was broken. I fixed it just for you

Phil Spencer:

"I have Tomb Raider shipping next holiday exclusively on Xbox. It is Xbox 360 and Xbox One," Spencer told Eurogamer. "I'm not trying to fake anybody out in terms of where this thing is. What they do with the franchise in the long run is not mine. I don't control it. So all I can talk about is the deal I have. I don't know where else Tomb Raider goes."

He goes on to confirm that the exclusivity deal between Microsoft and Rise publisher Square Enix "has a duration" and that they don't own the rights to the game in perpetuity. He declined to say how long that duration will be, though.

He doesn't own tomb raider, but he does have the rights to rise of tomb raider. That is why it won't show up on PS4 unless Square enix buys that specific game back. Also, every deal and contracts have duration. The duration could be 99 years for all you know.

Indeed, Phil Spencer has temporary rights to Rise of the Tomb Raider for 4-6 months.

Not only that, but final say goes to Square, not Microsoft.

No, because if history showed us anything (dead rising, titan fall, and more) Microsoft can make third party indvidual titles exclsuive to their platforms through contracts. Makes sense considering they are pretty much funding the game. Why would Microsoft fund the game if it is going to show up right away on the rival platform? Makes no sense.

If a third party developer doesn't want to sign the contract, they don't have to. Microsoft can't force them to sign contracts.
