Forums - Gaming - CEO Of R* Says PS4/XB1 Power Nowhere Near Realized Yet

Depends on the game, really. I think it's more or less people feel that reolution and framerate don't need to be top of the line for a game to still look and run good. i.e. Just because isn't 1080p/ 60 FPS doesn't mean it's automatically a graphical failure. :|

Yeah but when you see something like a PC doing it it's suddenly no biggie or it'll get picked apart, then when lower end off the shelf hardware does it it suddenly matters which is what I was trying to point out. Last gen people were more or less not making much of a deal of the resolution while PC was more or less ahead with the whole 1080p 60fps, before current gen released people were making a big fuss over it, now we see some games can/can't handle the full spec this gen marketed us towards and some people twiddle their thumbs and scuff their feet like it didn't matter, only when it works for them does it suddenly matter and that's what has become the new annoying thing this gen with people moving goalposts a lot more, PC is already egaring and making the first strides towards 4k 30fps and then 60fps and right now anyone on current gen isn't making a deal of it let alone seeing what it can do, I bet if it eventually happens to the enxt gen or the one after that those same people will suddenly make a fuss about it and brush off those people that told them about the first strides made years before, all because it didn't matter then but suddenly matters now when it fits their vision.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Only time could tell with something like this. I will return to this conversation in 2019.

You dont need time, its clearly evident in games that have been built for the current gen. The difference between 7th gen, cross gen and 8th gen games is as clear as day, even on PC. It will only get better, no one can deny it

This is clear to me aswell. And I believe it will only get better but there are many naysayers on here and in general. And the only way to prove them wrong is to well.. wait.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Oh but just you wait till the developers harness the TRUE power of the PS3!

Brah...

Same hardware, same developer, same type of game, only difference is time.

How the fuck naughty dog does it, how can they achieved such visuals on ps3 !!!

Its called pre rendering.

There's a "pattern" amongst most of the naysayers so I'm not sure how much weight you'd want to put on their claims.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

I don't think there will be huge improvement.

There's no crazy architecture with this gen's consoles, they're straightforward and easy to harness.

Of course, devs will get better at making the most of the hardware, but there won't be anywhere near the dramatic improvement we saw on PS3/360.

The 360 didn't had a crazy architecture, it was a normal GPU with a straightforward tri-core PPC CPU, with an unified RAM architecture. It also had similar visual improvements like the PS3 had.

Despite that, saying that a modern shader-based GPU is "easy to harness" isn't true. They are much more complicated than any fixed-function GPU used before the PS360 gen.

So, realtime Beyond Two Souls for you.

If you consider that a game... I guess we might as well use this too.

You did have to hit the A button to get the bird to fly from location to location.

This isn't like the PS3 and Xbox 360, with their funky archeitecure. The XB1 and PS4 both have PC like hardware, meaning there's already little left to get out of the consoles.

So you decide what is and what isn't a game? No problem, I have another one, realtime GOW Ascension:

You can keep trying man. Either way, it's just your bias clouding your judgement.

The graphics were so clearly advanced to older PS3 games the link broke.
