Forums - Nintendo - Prediction: Splatoon will outsell Titanfall (XBO version)

Which game will sell more lifetime?

Splatoon (WU) 247 56.91%

Titanfall (XBO) 187 43.09%

Total:434

Don't think so with retail sales and I also think digital sales are very high for Titanfall since it's pretty much an online multiplayer only game.

It's beyond laughable that we are now discussing sales in a videogame sales site that doesn't have any sales numbers.

No, is not. Splatoon had a great run at COMG, it had more points than 3D World and Xenoblade combined. I think we can discuss.

That's not his claim; the laughable part is that a site built on sales numbers no longer has actual sales numbers.

Opinion? am i crazy? :D

Yes. But it is the only game that makes me regret not having a wii U, so you may be right.

I just don't see it happening. It looks like an ok concept, but I just don't see who this game appeals to honestly. Also, this might be 100% wrong, but this game does not give off the vibe of a full AAA $60 game. It gives off the vibe of a $25 downloadable game. If this were a ps4 exclusive, I would expect it to be a $20 game that is download only.

The 360 version, I can see but Titanfall had a substainial marketing campaign, Splatoon... eh not so much. Word of mouth can only carry a original IP on a below average to average selling system so far even in the internet/social media age.

The game is very good but it is no Goldeneye 007.

No offense, but what are some of you guys smoking?

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

People will laugh, but I believe. I think that the first month will show over a million in sales. It already is at a nice price in EU, and it would have been wise if NOA did the same thing. That will be its biggest barrier. Yes I prepurchased, but after MP10, KRC, Captain Toad, Tipping Stars etc. NA Nintendo fans are trained to not want a $60 game.

After word gets out and the reviews hit, I can't imagine the game not doing great. And with Nintendo legs I wouldn't be shocked in the least if people who were holding out for Zelda U pick up Splatoon because they heard it was the Mario Kart of shooters.

Lol that's stretching it, like really, there is no evidence that suggests it would be even close to that.

Exactly that. I'm not saying that we don't have some indications about Splatoon's numbers, I'm saying that's laughable that we are having to resort to almost exoteric ways to predict sales instead of using the numbers that the site should provide.

In normal times, we would wait 1 or 2 weeks and then we would have Splatoons numbers (with 10 or 20% error margin, but that's pretty reasonable for an estimation like this) and we would be able to discuss it.

Unfortunately, without VGC numbers, comparing game sales will be hard. We will wait for NPD, get the weekly MC/Famitsu, sum with the few EU countries that have numbers (UK, Germany, etc) and we won't know anything about half Europe, Latin Americas, Africa, Oceania and most of Asia. That's just for the FW number. Want LTD? Unless the publisher releases the numbers, what will we do? Sum up all NPDs and MCs since the game was launched and do a wild guestimate for the rest of the countries? I think we won't be able to discuss this if VGC stops providing numbers.

We'll get Shipment #s for Every Quarter so we'll see the full picture this July (unless Nintendo announces something like 500k Sold WWby end of June/etc)

Naah I see selling 1million Ltd. I don't know how we will ever know though cost vgchartz never updates anymore.

We could get figures off NPD and japan but may struggle on European numbers.

Mario party 10 was massively undertracked on here and I still have no idea what its sitting at so far

Nintendo will give official numbers if Splatoon is a hit ;) I imagine Mario Party 10 must be around 600k worldwide so far if I was to have a guess.
