I would absolutely say that we're seeing ps2 level of support. Indie games are floboard the market, Japanese devs are back on board and because of this the platform already has a library that is only second to steam. They've put PlayStation center stage for the entire company. How is there not ps2 level of support? The difference I see, is back then GTA, MGS, Final Fantasy were 3rd party exclusive. Now they've gone multiplat. So instead of securing all these outsourced exclusives, they've secured third party exclusive advertising. This is the day and age we live in now (something that was brought about in part by MS mind you) and this just might be our next golden era of gaming.

Honestly, have you never seen people exclaim that PS4 is the true successor to PS2?

people only say the ps4 is the successor to ps2 because of sales. all of the "RETURN OF THE PS2" rhetoric is because of how it is crushing the competition. thats the only thing these two consoles have in common.

ps4 isnt the only platform where you can get a ton of indie games either. have you ever taken a look at nintendo's eShop? playstation is the center stage for the entire company because all their other endeavors have failed. and im not saying that to be mean, thats just what happened. sony is in desperate need of restructuring, and theyre lucky the ps4 took off like it did because it is buying them time to create something sustainable for themselves. and yes, i totally blame MS for all these bullshit tactics that both of those companies resort to. because of this nonsense, i would never consider any era that relies on this to be a golden age of anything. if that is what companies need to do in order to be profitable and sustain themselves, then that means there is something severely wrong with the industry and it needs to crash again and be built from the bottom up. it wouldnt bother me at all if it all fell apart. if it means saying goodbye to day 1 DLC, microtransactions, overinflated budgets, broken games, season passes, and rereleasing 1 year old games, then i say BRING IT. it needs to come to an end. i know i got off topic there, but oh well. thats how i feel.

A next crash would probally meaning the end of Playstation as a brand, neither would MS be bothered to release consoles, so that would be the day we would go full mobile and pc's take a heavy hit in therm of third party support which just losed a quarter of the total gaming userbase. Assuming 75% would game on pc afterwards which is highly optimistic. So don't let it crash it would mean the end if the industrie as we know it and it will focus probally even more on yearly games like Fifa, COD and other annual franchises.

Broken games are released because the hardware has become very complex, just as the size of games. Season passes and DLC aren't bad by defenition, some are good, some are bad. Rereleasing one year old games on new platforms isn't that bad since many people didn't play those game and next gen development is way more expensive than 7th gen development, why do you think Titans have barely any game to shine on except star citizen simply because 9/10th gen development it is to expensive at this time. So if you want to go back to an era without consoles in which games are way smaller and one of the biggest developers get out of the business (Sony) and devs are probally still releasing broken games and you want to get rid off consoles, yeah let it crash.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

umm.. anybody with an opinion. you do live on earth, dont you? with other people who have all sorts of opinions?

I think it's ok to have an opinion. It's just that you preach that opinion so often that is almost like you want people to believe that. And btw I think your opinion is very niche and wrong imo.

my opinion is niche, im cool with that. the fact that you called it wrong just now kind of contradicts how you and flocks of other people stomp around on here reminding me that the things i say are simply my OpInNiOonS.

i dont care if you call my opinion wrong as if it is a fact. in fact, id prefer you say your opinion with some kind of conviction. i find this phenomena of constantly reminding people that the things they say are their opinions gets in the way of any real discussion. its a distraction. i apologize of my response to what you said was aggressive, the last thing i want to do is treat people with disrespect (that may be hard to believe), but i get real tired of people distracting discussion by reminding people that the things they say are simply their opinions.

well first of all, lets get one thing straight - we have no idea what would happen if they industry crashed. we may have guesses (educated ones) but when it comes right down to it, its a very unpredictable scenario. the way i see things happening is very different from the way you see things happening.

one thing that i think would be very important is the survival of nintendo. i believe nintendo would hardly be affected by such a crash considering that they are completely self sustainable. would a crash mean that there would be no more gamers? of course not. it would mean that third party juggernauts along with sony and MS wouldnt be able to profit from this industry. i believe nintendo's platform (whatever it would be) could be a starting point for a rebuilding period. i think nintendo would be a crucial piece as to how things would go down following a crash, and it seems to be a piece that you decided not to acknowledge for some reason. im interested to hear what you would have to say about that. im very open minded.

as far as sony goes, yeah it sucks because the only thing keeping them alive right now is gaming, but i strongly believe that things could be better. i could write responses to all your responses about the things i listed, but i dont want to make this post too long.

sometimes things need to fall apart in order to get better.

do you honestly think i dont know, or are you just trying to be snarky?

how can you call an opinion wrong? if what youre responding to is something that is truly an opinion, how can you call it wrong? think about it. saying that is only your opinion doesnt solve the problem. this is how ridiculous it is:

person A: the ps4 doesnt deserve 50% marketshare

person B: your opinion is wrong, the ps4 does deserve 50% marketshare (in my opinion)

do you see how tacking on "in my opinion" doesnt solve the problem? it only makes it sound more ridiculous. id rather him just say that my opinion was wrong. i wasnt about to nitpick any of this, but since you made that response, it seems that i was left no other choice.

you called it a contradiction of his to say your opinion was wrong as tho that was a fact, he was saying his opinion was that you were not correct but stating of course it not as a fact but his opinon, that is why I suggest you look up what it means since clearly you are reacting to one portion of a statment and not what was said as a whole.

Sorry if you don't understand or think it's snarky when someone points out what words you've overlooked, that wasn't my intention but I'm sure you can read whichever words from this post you want and which you don't as well if you like!

And who is the judge of that "fact" exactly?

umm.. anybody with an opinion. you do live on earth, dont you? with other people who have all sorts of opinions?

You are correct. And it seems that the majority opinion is that PS4 deserves the sales. Hence the 50%+ market share.

People with different opinions have an absolute right to have their own, minority opinion.
