A next crash would probally meaning the end of Playstation as a brand, neither would MS be bothered to release consoles, so that would be the day we would go full mobile and pc's take a heavy hit in therm of third party support which just losed a quarter of the total gaming userbase. Assuming 75% would game on pc afterwards which is highly optimistic. So don't let it crash it would mean the end if the industrie as we know it and it will focus probally even more on yearly games like Fifa, COD and other annual franchises. Broken games are released because the hardware has become very complex, just as the size of games. Season passes and DLC aren't bad by defenition, some are good, some are bad. Rereleasing one year old games on new platforms isn't that bad since many people didn't play those game and next gen development is way more expensive than 7th gen development, why do you think Titans have barely any game to shine on except star citizen simply because 9/10th gen development it is to expensive at this time. So if you want to go back to an era without consoles in which games are way smaller and one of the biggest developers get out of the business (Sony) and devs are probally still releasing broken games and you want to get rid off consoles, yeah let it crash. |
well first of all, lets get one thing straight - we have no idea what would happen if they industry crashed. we may have guesses (educated ones) but when it comes right down to it, its a very unpredictable scenario. the way i see things happening is very different from the way you see things happening.
one thing that i think would be very important is the survival of nintendo. i believe nintendo would hardly be affected by such a crash considering that they are completely self sustainable. would a crash mean that there would be no more gamers? of course not. it would mean that third party juggernauts along with sony and MS wouldnt be able to profit from this industry. i believe nintendo's platform (whatever it would be) could be a starting point for a rebuilding period. i think nintendo would be a crucial piece as to how things would go down following a crash, and it seems to be a piece that you decided not to acknowledge for some reason. im interested to hear what you would have to say about that. im very open minded.
as far as sony goes, yeah it sucks because the only thing keeping them alive right now is gaming, but i strongly believe that things could be better. i could write responses to all your responses about the things i listed, but i dont want to make this post too long.
sometimes things need to fall apart in order to get better.
