Forums - Microsoft - Bioware: Mass Effect 2 will be "richer" than original

BioWare's general manager Greg Zeschuk has started to talk about Mass Effect 2 and has said they're working to improve everything in the game. One particular comment which should make Bioware fans excited is how he compares Mass Effect 2 to Baldur's Gate 2 in terms of improvements on the original. Anyone who has played both Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 on PC will know exactly what kind of step up, it's going from a good RPG to one of the greatest RPGs of all time (and some would argue the greatest).

"Zeschuk also said that he believes Mass Effect 2 will "take it to a whole new level," and compares the first game to BioWare's classic Dungeons & Dragons-inspired RPG Baldur's Gate, and the second one to Baldur's Gate II. It damn well better be. They don't have to create a universe or learn a new game engine this time. There won't be enough fanboys spooging over the half-game to cover up if they don't deliver this time. I enjoyed Mass Effect to a point and I'm really, really, really looking forward to the sequels... but Mass Effect is the most overrated RPG of all time.

Yeah, I said it. It's more overrated than Final Fantasy VII. In fact, I'd say that it's the most disappointing game that Bioware has ever put out. But I have a lot of faith in Bioware - I think they can make up for all of it in the sequel.

I loved ME.

I hope that they can get the whole texture loading thing fixed on 2, also the long, and frequent elevator rides, otherwise, I may not purchase it.
