Forums - Gaming - Shovel Knight is grossly over rated.

Looking at your currently playing/completed I am not really surprised that you do not like the excellent game that is Shovel Knight.

The music is good, at least give it credit for that.

PS: Fuck Rouge Legacy, that game is boring.

B-But it's indie, it's made with love, it can't be bad

On a side note, fuck this game. Rogue Legacy is better.

YAAAAAASSSSSS!!!!!!!!  I was so excited for Shovel Knight but it was rather average tbh. Rogue Legacy was amazing and I wish I had put more time into it.

I really like Shovel Knight (Also has on no gaemz Vita) however have to agree. Rogue Legacy is a much much better game that got far less hype.

Somehow I think the initial systems the respective games launched on may explain some of this.

Would anyone care to describe why they think Rogue Legacy is better? Like I said before, I can't think of a single area in which it edges out Shovel Knight.

OP goes back and forth between "it's overrated and average" and "it's not fun at all." Plus it sounds like OP doesn't even like this style of game to begin with. Can't tell if it's a serious thread.

OT: Shovel Knight is the second game that should be shown to any aspiring game designer (behind Mario 1 because history). The levels are so perfectly designed to add in mechanics gradually and it never fails at doing so, helping make the entire game feel fair. Whether or not you like the gameplay that they did present doesn't change that fact, and that fact on top of the fantastic soundtrack and level of polish makes it stand out with the best of a VERY barren 2014.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

I got completely hooked to Rogue Legacy and loved the mechanics of dying and dying to level up. The different genes each generation also mixes up the game too.

I'm not really sure how you can directly compare mechnics though, the only thing they really share in common is that they are side scrolling platformers. Rogue Legacy is a roguelike (i.e meant to be hard as nails, it's also meant to be night on impossible when you start, you need to level up). Shovel Knight is a modern attempt at a NES game and a much more straight forward 2D platform.

For nowadays standards, 6 to 8 is average, so you are right.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

This is how I felt about bioshock original.
Man how formulaic that game is.

I dunno, Bioshock was pretty refreshing at the time (2007).

In 2015 though, a platformer that feels like NES games seems to be getting more praise than it deserves.
