Locked 5 reaction threads regarding Nintendo today. A few on each side of the spectrum. I get that emotions were/are high, but at this point they've run their courses.

SMTxFE is on the Treehouse right now though. Looks pretty neat.

Why do I get the feeling that number will increase...

Smeags killed the damage control thread so I'm posting this here:

The direct really makes me wonder why they made the pre-E3 direct. I don't think Nintendo would have gotten nearly as much flack if they had skipped all of the developer stories and filled the gaps with the games from the mini-direct plus stuff like Devil's Third and Fatal Frame V, and perhaps some news for Smash and Splatoon as well. This direct made it look like Nintendo has absolutely nothing to offer on their systems and that's not true in any way.

The greatest advantage of this format is that Nintendo can get rid of useless fluff, bad pacing and fake applauds, and focus entirely on showing games. More in-depth demonstrations and interviews with developers can then be shown at the Treehouse event. This year Nintendo did the exact opposite of what they should have done, by including a ton of boring talk and leaving out upcoming games.
The transformation theme wasn't bad but they should also have used it to promote the diversity of their upcoming line-up. Have a 3DS split up into three parts, each one transforming into Link and then show of the new Zelda game. A Wii U transforms into a haunted mansion and then you get a Fatal Frame trailer. And so on and so forth...Sure, it's meaningless but it would look cool!

It's a good question. As interesting as it was to hear Miyamoto talk about Starfox's origins, or to see that lady alk about how Yarn Yoshi
(the amiibo only, or the game too? I wasn't clear) came to be, stuff like that could have easily been left out and replaced with more meaningful content. Nintendo clearly cocked up the Digital Event portion of their E3.

Although the funny part is that their presentational skills outside of the Digital Event have actually been pretty good: The Nintendo World Championship was much, much better than I expected, and did a good job of selling Mario Maker to boot. The Treehouse continues to be the best part of E3 for me; everyone should offer lengthy hands on viewings of their games, and I hope the practice spreads soon.

SMTXFE looks nice...

I was excited before the event, but not so much after. In reality there are a few games that will appeal to my family for the rest of the year such as Woolly World and Mario Maker which will probably fill the run up to holidays just fine.

I am left a little hollow though, mostly because I am not that interested in Xenoblade nor the 3DS so the presentation was filled with decent but not great games that I already knew about. One great reveal for a game during holidays would have made me a lot happier, for example a real Animal Crossing game (even just a slight redo of New Leaf akin to City Folk would be great) and I would have no (serious) complaints.

The presentation does have a weird feel of Nintendo not putting everything they could out there though which made me think the Treehouse stuff would be more exciting than it has been.

Oh well, without valleys there can be no peaks.

"Performa"? lol

One of the songs reminded me of Splatoon's end boss.

I don't think that we ever had a game like SMT X FE on a Nintendo platform.

But other publishers do do this. Ubisoft and Sony have been running livestreams for the same duration of Treehouse.  - _ -

You get eight icons instead, with things like "Nooooo!", "dafuq?", and the one I'll be spamming, "aaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!"

What more do you need?

I can imagine this Zelda game being very frustrating to play online.
