You are missing a lesson in geography, as Ireland is a different country, a bit northwest of England.

Funny that, it appears you've misread my post, I know exactly where Ireland is. What im saying is, the op says Ireland the first to doit, but what I'm saying is I'm positive England has already done this years ago as I've even been to a gay wedding a couple of years ago in England.

it's the first country to recognize same sex marriages by popular vote

in other countries only representatives voted on that matter

Sad day indeed and against family and human nature.

Making positive comments about drugs and crass comments about the complexities of abortion.... I'm not sure if you are trying to get banned or something. As i say - not particular helpful.

An Irish person would get it, please don't hate on me because my Irish negativity comes through in comments about serious matters.

I'm Irish, don't just put down a bad post about chucking feutus's in bins as a thing all Irish joke about please.

Aye tis like someone else here mentioned I think it was New Zealand where marriage was allowed for same sex couples, but it was decided by 80 members of parlament, Ireland was the first country to ask it's population as a whole if they would want to allow people to be married regardless of their gender and close to 1.3m people or 62% of the voters said they wanted equality so I think it's just a bigger message that the people of a country all agree that it's the right thing to do rather than some politicans in a room.

Well if the amendment didn't pass then it wouldn't have meant gay men or women would all have changed and turned straight just to make people who don't view 2 loving men or women as a "family" happy, just would mean that those couples would have had to be happy with civil partnership instead of being married just like every other couple is allowed to do.

Thankfully here in Ireland it was a really happy day for acceptance of others as a majority, by quite the margin as well.

actually it's perfectly in line with human nature that about 6-8% are only interested in the same sex they are born with themselves, that's a percentage that was stable throughout all cultures and all epochs

the maturity of a civilization is best measured by how it treats it's minorities (or "it's weakest members")

The end of the vid makes me a tiny bit sad, one county of the 26 in red, a really kinda backwater area slightly called Roscommon, shows up fairly badly for them if anyone was considering holidaying there to know they are a bit backwards in their views still, could be costly to business there.

Great for Ireland, wasn't such a surprising result though. Any Irish celebrity was in favour and Pro-equality.

it's funny that Roscommon sort of looks like a cross aswell ;) - well, even there it was very close and almost in favor of same sex marriage, so I think they'll come around to it once they notice that the sky won't be falling down on them
