Forums - Nintendo - What if Xenoblade X would be a Pokemon game?

So,

Xenoblade Chronicles X was just released about 1 month back in japan. Unfortunalty it wasnt to sucsessfull, really hoped about more.

I guess one problems with the game is the ip. Xenoblade was a awesome game on wii, but it wasnt very good known at all. The game mostly appel to hardcore JRPG fans. Most of my "non wii u owner friends" doesnt even know about XBX.

So i just made some speculations. What do you think would be if Xenoblade would be a Pokemon game?

The game mechanics are feeling very similar to what many people would expect of an wii u pokemon game. Just a incredible huge open world to explore and find pokemons.

Even the combat system would fit perfectly into a pokemon game. So if your in a fight, you would summon ur pokemon and control it like your character in XBX. Mainly does auto attacks and the arts would be pokemon skills.

Instead of flying a doll you could fly on charizard and co.

Even the monster in XBX arnt to different from pokemon. Most could easy be pokemon.

So in my opinion it would be no problem to release this game as a pokemon game. it wouldnt take much more or less effort to make.

What do you think would this game sell? I would expect incredible high sales and it would definitly be a big system seller for the wii u. Just keep in mind how pokemon raised the gameboy sales. This franchise is well known, popular all over the world and incredible sucsessfull. Take the handhels pokemon gameplay to a higher step on a home console with similar gameplay as xbx.... it probl would easily be GOTY2015.

Your thoughts?

Yeah i do know that Xenoblade has alot fans, but mostly people who are very into gaming at all (eg. people who be on this forum).

But thats unfortunaly just a pretty small number of gamer. Games liek Bayonetta 2 get reverded from some hardcore fans, but it still wont sell anything like mario kart or call of duty.

Like i said, the gameplay would be pretty much the same. Just another IP.

What? Last time I checked, 85k copies is a success especially when compared to the first game and the Wii's install base at the time (it opened with like 80k and the Wii had over 90m I think)

Mario Party 10 opened at like what 50k in Japan and has already moved over 130k in Japan?

Xenoblade X will most likely hit 250k in Japan which is pretty good when compared to Xenoblade's 160k in Japan.

Yeah and mario party 10 is anything like on a similar level? In development cost? In greatness?

XBX is a AAA title, developet by a huge team over years. Compare it to games like witcher 3 or Final Fantasy 15 (in worldwide sales)

The game would definitely sell more than Xenoblade X, though I wouldn't want to replace this game with Xenoblade

250,000 lifetime when it sold just more than 10,000 last week? I seriusly doubt.

Mario Party is totally difference game, it have legs. 50,000 FW to 25,000 SW, compared to 85,000 FW to 10,000 XenoBlade.

Imo, it will probabily sell like the first XenoBlade, just little more than 150,000, not more.

Then people would complain that Nintendo doesn't support franchises outside Mario, Zelda and Pokemon.

There are way too many Pokemon to fit in, not to mention unlike Xenoblade X where they can reuse certain enemy models with a few alterations, a number of Pokemon are uniquely shaped and move if we are staying true to previous games, anime and the such.

If that were the case, then I'd probably wouldn't care for it, to be perfectly honest.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
