Forums - Nintendo - What if Xenoblade X would be a Pokemon game?

If that were the case, then I'd probably wouldn't care for it, to be perfectly honest.

well like i mentioned, keep in mind this forum doesnt really reflect the main wii u audience. Most people here are probl mature and very good informed about whats going on in the gaming community.

But the majority of gamers (on all 3 consoles) are casuals. people who want to play what they do know (Mario kart, Call of duty, Fifa).

Is Mario Kart better as Bayonetta 2? Probl not - still stold 8x as many units.

So im pretty sure xbx as pokemon ip would also easily sell 5x the units.

That is true, but for what it is, the game has shown Nintendo taking in Monolith Soft was a good deal as it cements the new Xenoblade franchise while not a massive success as a viable output and one capable of filling a epic scifi RPG hole in Nintendo's umbrella of usual IP and genres. I mean for pure fantasy they can easily go to Zelda or even Fire Emblem at any point but the Xenoblade brand could easily grow into something especially in Japan where most of Nintendo's science fiction games (Metriod, F-Zero and Star Fox) don't do nearly as well in their home nation as Nintendo would like.

I think that would be a bad idea. Sure I love Pokemon and would love to see more Pokemon games, but just forcing them in to other games solely to boost sales? That would be a horrible way to do it. Diversity is good, even if that means not everything sells bucketloads.

why forcing them? I think this wouldnt be anything like forcing. This would just be how a pokemon game on a hd home console could/should be.

The XBX mechanics just seem fit very very good to a pokemon game in my opinion. And it would also make the pokemon games better in my opinion. To be honest, i didnt played the past pokemon games (my childhood was around blue/silver editions), but in my opinion that game would be just awesome. The pokemon formula (catching, fighting, arenas) shouldnt be changed. But exploring the world in real 3D, really flying on pokemon instead of simple fast travel, make the combat a bit more action orientated,... I feel like this would even make this game a better pokemon game as the handheld versions.

Edit: I think it would be similar to zelda. The first zeldas/handheld versions are similar to the pokemon games (in terms of graphics/perspective). Are the 3d Zeldas anything bad? In my opinion they made the games even better.

Sounds like a bad idea to me, I certainly wouldn't buy it...

One of the biggest draws for xenoblade is the story... Which is not something Pokemon does... At least not well...

How is it not forcing? You'd be taking an established franchise and a developer that has had nothing to do with Pokemon before and forcing them to use Pokemon in their new game rather than what they want to do with it themselves.

They also worked in Skyward sword and probl are just helping on zelda wii u at the moment. So they were forced to do so, because the are not related to zelda in any way?

hm i dont see any big problems them just using a similar story as xbx´s for the pokemon game. Some things changed yeah, but they could still make an similar awesome story.

Well that's not really the same. I was talking about forcing characters in to a game where they don't really belong rather than helping out on a Zelda game that would have been made anyways with or without their assistance.

well what about the donkey kong games made by retro studios then? Where they bad? Arnt they allowed to use old nintendo franchises for new games (metroid or DK both bad?) they werent related in any way to both games before they developed the sequels.

Because Pokemon has an established lore at this point.  Xenoblades story is very different.

Look, if Nintendo wants to make an open world Pokemon game for the wii u, more power to them, but it should be built from the ground up.  Pokemon would deserve that and xenoblade deserves its own release as well.

that being said, it will never happen.  Pokemon is their handheld money maker and Nintendo seems satisfied keeping it that way.
