Grew up on the NES and SNES, had a Gamecube and PS1, but have stuck with PlayStation since then. I keep to one console per generation, and although I miss Zelda and Mario Kart (usually play with friends), I haven't compeled felt to make the investment in a Nintendo console in a long time. I do however hope the company does well, and would hope there next console might make me want to return to them.

I absolutely love everything about Nintendo (even when they get it wrong). Their hardware is always efficient and robust, they are quirky, have the best IP in the industry and make beautiful polished software. I do also like a bit of Sony as well though, owning both compliment each other well.

Wii U is Wii 2.0 imo. Everything is the same (and I own already a Wii)...
Look at Sony or Microsoft and how much differences there are between last gen and current gen (better online, task-system, record gameplay...). This is Next-Gen!

Oh, you already own a Wii, then I understand you're not really interested in the WiiU.

I'm in this situation with the PS3 and the PS4. I have the PS3 and I'm not interested by the PS4, because :

- 400 bucks + you have to pay for online gaming = way too much money

- No backward compatibility is a shame, so I have to keep my PS3, what the hell...

- What's really new here, except improved hardware and online ? Why would I care about task-system or recording gameplay ?

- Not many interesting games on it right now... This might change, but that will not be enough for me

@Bold: That is a really big one for me, as someone who does NOT own a PS3.

There isn't a developer out there who delivers more games that I love, but by the same token, they do not make the games that I enjoy most.

I'm a renewed fan thanks to the Wii U and its games. I didn't like the Wii.

I think with its controller, the Wiiu is more innovative. It takes more than just powerful hardware too be innovative. New ways too play are key to innovation as well, but Nintendo dropped the ball with not being able to use 2 Wiiu controllers.

As a computer gamer for some 30+ years I can't say I'm fan of any particular company, my preferred gaming diet has been coming mostly from 3rd parties all that time.

When it comes to Nintendo I fall firmly into Zelda+MK category, occasionally sprinkled with some smaller IPs.

Not really a contradiction, there were plenty of games on those platforms that weren't made by Nintendo...

I grew up with Nintendo so they'll always be my favorite. They're like an old family member to me. I may not like everything they do or the choices they make, but I feel this strange sense obligation to support them. I'll always wish for their success. It doesn't hurt that I absolutely love most of their franchises and the fun factor combined with nostalgia is enough to win me over.

I wasn't a Sony kid growing up. I didn't get a Sony console until 2012, but PS3 and 3DS have been the majority of my gaming the past few years. So I love Sony, too but it's not the same kind of love that you have for something you grew up with.

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P

I'm pretty sure everyones been a Nintendo fan at one point in their life.
