Forums - Microsoft - Want JRPGs on Xbox One? "Keep Asking Until We Show You Something You Like," Phil Spencer Says

People saying that you should just get a PS4 for rpgs....well yeah it ll have more.
That doesnt mean people that already own a Xbox one should suffer without any good RPGs on their system.

Its always good news that there are new RPGs.

70% of my 360 games are shooter... but 360 have also good JRPG. Not as Wii/PS3 level, of course.
I think the XBO will have some exclusive good JRPG this gen, like last gen. and still, not at WU/PS4 level, but a good game is a good game.

Honestly, the Wii and 360 JRPG situation is very similar. A pretty low quantity, but definitely have some high quality titles. 360 doesn't get enough credits for the first 3-4 years.

Wii U rpgs:    http://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/genre/date/role-playing/wii-u

Citizens of Earth (decent)
Pier Solar and the Great Architects (sega mega drive game)
Costume Quest 2 (meh)
Iittle Dew (old school top down zelda game, not really of a much rpg)
Squids Odyssey (angry birds type game)
Child of Light (decent)
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (not a fan of these)
Ben 10: Omniverse (meh)
Mass Effect 3: Special Edition (decent)

Wii U RPG situation isnt exactly great either (atm)

Well, they shouldn't but you also can't force japanese devs to make Xbox ports for their JRPGs if they don't deem that financially viable, the X1 has absolutely no presence in Japan and the only example of a japanese RPG launching on both systems has the X1 only selling about 15% or 80k of the total 550k between it and the PS4 and that game has the Final Fantasy name attached to it.

/Close thread.

If you want/like jrpg, then buy the console who will get all of them, aka the ps4, or handheld such as 3ds/Vita.

But don't buy a Xone or a pc if you want jrpg...

The alternative is JRPG developers go bust because JRPGs aren't profitable on the Xbox One. So in that alternative world nobody should get JRPG's because someone refuses to get the ideal system for their genre of choice. Sounds fair.

If you want JRPGs on Xbox One how does selling it and getting a PS4 give you JRPGs on Xbox One?

If you want JRPGs it would make a lot of sense to buy the console made by the Japanese...

With a console that has sold ~60,000 in Japan, JRPG's are hardly gonna be made FOR it anymore. It will be lucky to get the odd one, but most jrpgs are usually exclusive for some reason.

We're talking about the Wii and 360. Last generation consoles.

The Wii U doesn't really have any representation in the genre at all.
