Loll, all the lewd jokes aside, this really would have been a hard sell for me if the single player wasn't 5-7 hours long because at $70, I really gotta compare it to other games like Cod for example.

Cod has like 12 different* modes, has way more weapons, perks, kill streaks and etc, has way more maps at launch (14-15), has not only private matches but custom private matches, has a 6-7 hour single player and has "horde mode," and has voice chat (which isn't a big deal for me).

If we compare that to splatoon... Splatoon has 3 online modes, has less weapons and etc, has less maps at launch (5), doesn't have custom servers at all but will have private servers by the looks of it and we didn't know how long the single player was going to be and of course, doesn't have horde mode and doesn't have voice chat (which isn't a big deal for me)

Now we can of course say the whole "splatoon is unique" and it is, it really is. It is quite unique and fun and etc but is its uniqueness enough to justify $70 when other games that cost $70 has more stuff but are less unique? I would argue not really (before the length of the single player got revealed).

With that being said, since it now has a 5-7 hour single player, it is very justifiable for me because I am willing to overlook some of its issues because it is very unique and fun compared to many other shooters these days, its just before this, I couldn't really justify it.

But now that I am on board... I hope the kids are ready for penis shapes everywhere yar har har

*Some are kind of similar

It has 4 online modes actually. How many modes in CoD are actively played? Most of them are quite boring and unoriginal.

Sorry 4 T_T

But I can pretty much find matches in virtually all modes until the next itteration of cod comes out and at its worst case, I can still play those modes with my friends. And I find quite a bit of them pretty fun but certainly the standard ones are unoriginal. And of course, some cod games on PC (and maybe the consoles but idk) has dedicated servers where u can play even more modes that aren't just part of the status quo such as infected and etc which are also fun

You can do what I did and order Black Ops 2 the same day. If Splatoon isn't everything I think it will be (which I doubt) I'll just play BLOPs 2 until they announce BLOPs 3 for Wii U.

Are you deciding between Splatoon and BLOPS3 or something, otherwise I don't see why the comparison, as a game doesn't need to have a as many online modes as CoD to be fun, worth $60, have an active community, able to be played for 100+ hours, and all that jazz, see MK8.

I am just giving an example. I have no intention of buying Blops3

I am just giving an example loll. I already mentioned that I will buy splatoon after hearing this great news. Its just what I felt like before this news came up, thats all.

Like any Nintendo game, it will probably have massive replayability towards it. Let's not forget that starfox 64 can be casually beaten in around an hour or less.

Ah, well I intend on getting both and never thought for a second that one game invalidates the purchase of the other in the slightest, naturally as I don't buy games for modes but for gameplay, and both games have great gameplay that's very different from each other. Splatoon may not have as many maps weapons or modes, but it's amount is enough thanks to it's core gameplay not only offering a unique and surprisingly deep n varied experience, but also how it makes every battIe exciting yet different from the last even when playing with the same map weapon and mode. I can easily see myself spending 100+ hours on Turf War alone.

I'll take 6-7 hours just fine. Any longer for a shooter and it might start to get boring for me, at least. We're all buying it for the multiplayer, right?

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P

Comparisons with CoD are rather nonsensical, they're not the same genre nor do they have similar types of single-player campaigns.

The better comparison would be some mix of Mario, Portal, and Vanquish. There was no need to delay the game.

Splatoon is a copy of an xbox indie game, not exactly new or creative.

And I think you just lost all your credibility in the Nintendo Discussion section. If you had any that is.

Yes, Nintendo copied an obscure unreleased indie game that looked awful and no one ever heard of before Splatoon (that includes you by the way). ;)

At least im honest

Yea thats true and your way is quite a nice way of looking at things. But I guess we do evaluate our purchases differently like I look at stuff like the modes and the length of the single player and etc while you look at how many hours can u get from the game overall regardless of them. Like while I can excuse a lack of modes and stuff, there is a cutting off point for me for the price that I am paying. If Splatoon was $40/$50 cad, it would have been an instant buy but since it isn't and it had quite amount of urks for me, it wasn't a very good deal and I wasn't really all that confident in the length of the single player either.

And while I do understand the whole "online = tons of hours of play," that can be said for all games with online and its not like I dont have fun with cod or anything cause I do. But excusing splatoon while other shooters such as cod (as an example) offers me so much more (before this) just urks me cause of how I buy stuff if that makes any sense. I might have more fun with splatoon, sure but is that "bit more fun" worth the $70 price tag with my prior knowledge about the game with less of virtually everything in all fronts compared to say cod at launch other than the game being very unique? Not really for me (until this news). Which is why I cancelled my pre-order which now I shall uncancel because my confidence in the game has been restored.

That's quite decent considering that most of it should be gameplay.
