Forums - Sony - Sony: 'No Concerns' for Holiday lineup

Well.. Nintendo is definitely viewed as having the best library of exclusives so far (as long as we don't count the multiplats that aren't available on the Wii U) Sony and Microsoft are closely matched after the release of Bloodborne. As for internally developed games, I think Sony is pushing more of them than MS. What notable games did MS make for X1 besides Forza 5 (which was disappointing)? Horizon 2 (cross gen)? and MCC (a broken remastered collection)?

You could argue they're the better publisher this generation but in terms of internally developed games, I think Sony is doing a better job. Only I'm very disappointed due to the delays and their lineup being pretty mediocre for their own standards. Preceding Playstation systems put the PS4 to complete shame. Though I'm expecting this to change when the better studios enter the party (Naughty Dog, Media Molecule, Team ICO,  Santa Monica and maybe Team Siren) I was never a huge fan of GG or Sucker punch. And hell I haven't played anything from Evolution Studios since WRC on PS2.

And in my opinion, Sony does even shooters better than MS as demonstrated with The Last of Us which dethroned Gears to me. I did always prefer MS in FPS though.

Overall, X1 and PS4's true exclusives seem equally unimpressive at this point. Of course I'm more disappointed with the PS4 because I was expecting "great" things from them.

I'd take Forza 5 over Driveclub. One is less of a disappointment.

Horizon 2 on 360 isn't the same experience as the X1 version. Different engine, the 360 version is more track based while the X1 version has more open enviornments. Either way, both versions are better than Driveclub. :-p

MCC is broken? I've been playing the campaigns and a good number of hours online. Maybe your version needs to get patched?

The shooting mechanics in The Last of Us ain't bad, but is that game a good shooter? No. I wouldn't even compare it to Gears.

I'm actually genuinely impressed by MS's 1st party lineup. MCC is almost a dream come true and the best way to play that series. Killer Instinct is one of the greatest fighting games ever made. Forza Horizon 2 is arguably one of the racing games ever created. Bottomline, I'm happy to be a X1 owner.

It's not really Sony's fault. The fact is ever since the HD era games are costing a lot more to make, not making as much money, and are just harder to make in general. During the PS2 era you can churn out triple AAA masterpieces for $10-20 million. Today that's barely above indie development costs!

This is why so many companies are gone now: THQ, Eidos, Konami, Capcom, Sega.... and a ton more.

The thing is the PS4 doesn't have to have killer app exclusives to sell. Look how it's selling now. Sony doesn't need to worry AT ALL.

Although I laughed when he said "Look! We got Tearaway and No Man's Sky!" Lmao that was embarrassing and was shocked he actually said that.

most of today's game are also $10-20m

only a few big games go above $20-30m and very few above $50m

I'm sure they have a couple of games packed up their sleeves to show us at E3 for the next holiday season. Will it be as big as Uncharted 4? Probably not Will it be enough? I think it will be.good enough for people to satisfy their cravings until Uncharted 4.

Send a Friend Request On PSN :P

No man's sky to be pushed as hard as Destiny? Maybe not quite, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if it ends up getting a physical boxed release.

Heavily rumoured to have co-marketing deal on Star Wars.

It's still ridiculously outnumbered in both full games and 3rd party co-marketed games to Xbox.

We don't yet know Assasin's cred syndicate, R6 siege, cod blops3 are partnered with either Xbox or PS.

We will know soon enough at E3.

This gen, owning both, I don't really mind.

PS, PS2, Gameboy Advance, PS3, PSP, PS4, Xbox One

KI is owned by MS and MS employees also worked on that project (most notably Ken Lobb). I'm not saying MS deserves all the credit, but they deserve more than you're giving.

Killzone and Resistance are not great. Are they good? Sure... but not great.

Xbox lacks an exlcusive like Uncharted and I'm fine with that. Uncharted is a grossly over rated series primarily because people enjoy the story and graphics. Tomb Raider trounced any Uncharted in the gameplay department. Tomb Raider focused on tight gameplay and more interesting enviornments to explore. While Uncharted is often a tiresome gallery shooter and focuses on a more cinematic experience. Its the story that keeps me playing Uncharted games thus far.

I'm not denying the Sony's lineup is more diverse, I'm just saying I don't care because most of their lineup isn't very good. I say that as a person that played most of what Sony offers on PS1, PS2, PS3 and Vita. Their PS4 lineup thus far has underwhelmed but I feel like people are just realizing Sony games aren't that great.

Yeah, I am giving my opinion and a lot of people share my opinion. Sony games just aren't as great and people on the internet claim. I bought a PS3 because their games were so hyped. In the end I felt like Sony fans played joke on me.

No Double Helix did most of the developing. C'mon man. It also still doesn't negate the fact that it was an established franchise before MS bought Rare.

Also that is your opinion that Killzone isn't great. I could say the same for Halo nowadays, but that would be my opinion as well. Others, like me, share the same sentiments though. Still enjoy the games though.

The reboot of Tomb Raider is heavily influenced by Uncharted and there's no denying that. You're downplaying a great game that is Uncharted. When it launched, there was no other game like it. It's not just cinematics. I wouldn't say overrated.

You say that most of Sony's line up isn't very good. Okay.... Let me ask you this and please be honest. You think MS line up is better than Sony's offerings?! Oh and Xbox One's line up is not better. I'm sorry, but it's not. I have a Xbox One, PS4, and a Wii U. I play them all. PS4 thus far has a better line up of games. No question...no debate compared to the Xbox One!

I can also say the same about people sharing my opinion about Xbox games. I didn't want to turn this into a tit for tat in the games department, but I felt compelled to defend Sony from your downplaying. Seriously man I know you like and prefer Xbox over everything, but Sony has great games as well.

Sounds like Microsoft in 2010

Xbox 360 in 2010 had Halo Reach, Fable 3 and the launch of Kinect.

Not something to stick your nose up at. Holiday 2010 for the 360 was something special.

I must be thinking of 2011, they had Gears 3 in the fall and the rest of the year was empty

Whether Sony has or doesn't have the best exclusives is subjective. From an objective point of view, Microsoft's studios are widely considered the weakest out of the three. Neither you nor I can change that common perception.

Well last gen the 360 sold more 1st party software than Sony. Also, it should be noted it depends on what genres you enjoy. For example, I'm a shooter fan. Sony shooters were mediocre, overhyped, and lost in obscurity. while MS's shooters were and are still great.

At the moment, I feel there is a common perception MS has the best exclusives right now. Unless you REALLY like Mario games and Bayonetta 2. Even Sony fans are disappointed with much of their exclusive offerings thus far. Unless you bought a PS4 for Bloodborne there isn't much to boast about.

Maybe that perception will change when PS4 gets its hyped games of 2016. But X1 owners actually have exclusives to get excited about in 2015. Oh well, atleast we all get great multiplat games.

equally? PS4 has Bloodborne highest metacritic rated exclusive, that should give Sony the edge now from any neutral point of view

2011 was Gears 3, Forza 4 and Halo CEA.

The main thing for them in 2011's holiday season though was the exclusive advertising for both Modern Warfare 3 and Skyrim. The biggest games of the Year.
