So, what was the last AAA game to have a straight, white male?

I don't think Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China is AAA. BF: Hardline had a Cuban main character. I guess The Order: 1886 before that in February. An AAA game before that was in November with Far Cry 4 which had an Indian/Nepalese main character.

Not a whole lot if you ask me.

Well Witcher 3, The Order, Dying Light, Call of Duty, both Assassins Creeds, Shadow of Mordor, Sunset Overdrive. A clear majority I'd say, not that being a majority is misrepresentational but a far cry from being "quite rare these days"

Sunset Overdrive - customisable character.

Shadow of Mordor - that just comes with the territory of the IP.

Assassin's Creed - don't forget the this franchise has had as main characters a middle-eastern man, an american indian and a black woman.

So, we have Witcher 3, The Order, Dying Light, CoD, Assassin's Creed compared to:

Battlefield Hardline - Cuban

Resident Evil Revelations 2 - 2 women

Far Cry 4 - Nepalese/Tibetan

Bayonetta 2 - Woman

The Evil Within - Latino

Alien: Isolation - Woman

All released prior to Shadow of Mordor.

Yeah, I wasn't argueing the against the presence of them. Just your initial statement of the white males being "rare".

I don't always like how they deal with their Ips in general but Ubisoft has always been one of the diverse and adventurous in terms of protagonists.

Isn't Sebastián Castellanos a Spanish name? Although the game wiki lists him as American.

No more than catering to white male teenagers.

I'm not sure if we qualify as white in the eyes of those who care about races.

Yeah, that's an accurate assumption :P

Pandering to feminists doesnt work, nobody likes those menhating liars, not even women, and they have absolutly no concept of art or fun, or civil discourse, or math...

the video games are anti women argument is just a lie, like the gender wage gap or other female discrimination in the western world.

Yes I do believe so. If a developer/creator has a vision who are we to tell him to insert another character in the game just to be "equall".

I don't think it's a problem. As long as the developers design from the ground-up, invest in making the characters (no matter of ethinicity, gender, sexuality etc.) relevant to the setting, story and atmosphere of the game. Far Cry 4 for instance where the main character is originally from Kryat and returning there after growing up in the States. In games where the main character is a player avatar that can be made then I think it's a no brainer to give he player as many options as possible.

The problem with simply "catering" to set demographics is if you just add in characters for the sake of ticking the demographics off a checklist. It's usually a bit obvious.
