the aiming system was more accurate and stable. We were "forced" to use the joycons attached to the grip pad and that's not How I use to play the game - and even so I was able to control it very accurately. Camera responds perfectly to the controller, I guess guided by the Joycon.
Tried 2 weapons and the difference in heaviness and controls was impressive in a good way - you feel heavier by carrying the weapon even in squid mode not just in action.
Switch!!!

When was the last time you played the original cause you must be mis-remembering. From everything I've heard and seen, aiming, controls, and movement are exactly the same as the first game. The big differences are in the gameplay mechanics, which have definitely not been left unchanged as you claim. All new specials alone completely changes things, but also new maps n new actions for weapons.
Quick question about User IDs, does the first letter default to lower case?
I think I did "Ultrashroomz" but I just got back "ultrashroomz"
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Well, the joycons are an improved motion control so maybe the slight upgrades made the aiming slightly smooter?
