Forums - Nintendo - Splatoon post-launch plans - is it good?

I see plenty of people buying broken and unfinished games on the other 2 consoles lol.

It's defended because the dlc is FREE. It's defended because it's only €40 here. That's €30 cheaper than The Order. Let that sink in.

You don't even know how long the singleplayer will be.

Buy the game in August if you care so much. ;)

In America is a full priced game.

Why not delay it till August and add all the content anyway?

I think releasing the game with that much content will hurt the ratings and those are very important for a new franchise, magazines and website will rate the game based on what is available not what is coming in the near future and there are some importants features like matchmaking and map variety that will be missing for quite some time. Remember, they are asking for your money now, not in the future when the game is more robust.

People don't buy a game in May to finally have the full game in August, what do you not get about that? There's was a time not too long ago when the Nintendo crowd was very proud of Nintendo for releasing all their games finished, so why is this being defended so vehemently by you now?

So you're continuing with this pointless deflection tactic? Do you think those other people aren't being critized for that shit, where you living in a cave when The Order was ripped apart for its value proposition? But oh no, naturally Nintendo is as always above any criticism, just like they are above criticism for including on disc DLC in the game (which ironically is going to work from Day 1).

Oh and I'm sure that the single player in this game, which was never the focus of it, is going to be massive *rolls eyes*

I struggle to wrap my head around this. All the content included in the game seems to be complete and polished, and we will continue to get more complete and polished material throughout the year for free. Why is that bad exactly? Its not like the content that exists is unfinished and will be polished after launch and it isn't like Nintendo is asking you to pay extra. Instead they are implementing a strategy that they believe will keep people playing the game for a long time after launch.

Saying "well I want it now!" just seems like a petty complaint, and I'm surprised that so much weight is being lent to these concerns.

So wanting a game to be actually complete at launch is petty now? The game was from the get go marketed as a multiplayer focused game, a game like that launching with:

5 multiplayer maps,

1 online competitive multiplayer mode (with 1 soon to follow) and 1 local multiplayer mode and

no private matches and no party system.

Can by no definition be called complete and finished.

1 following probably on the same week

There is a party system, you can play with friends online since day 1.

There´s just no reason to complain here, why do you want the game to be released on August instead of May? I want to play it now, if you think the content is not enough buy it 2 months later, it´s really simple. Why is going to be a better game for being released on August when is going to be complete on August anyway? The game has hours and hours of fun, you have to level up, unlock new gear, new weapons, upgrade your stuff, train with the diferents weapons, you have turf wars, battle dojo and splat zones (coming probably in few days to have the best online experience with more users at level 10) and the single campaign. It´s not coming empty. And the new stuff and maps are not coming on August but through the summer, like 1 every week or so.  In August comes the matchmaking options with the private lobbies and customizable matches, and then the game will become very competitive. But at first is like they are training the audience.

Because Wii U has no other games coming out. If Nintendo had decent third party support they'd probably delay it.

I don't really see the problem. We will likely be getting more maps in June (and more in july (and more in august)) as well as new modes on top of the single player content and multiplayer modes the game will launch with. It doesn't seem that there will come a time when the content will get tired and I believe that this strategy can maximize longevity and centralize the community making the game a better experience for everybody in the long run.

Yet you're here complaining about a game you're completely ignorant of and that you're not going to buy.

You were exposed the minute you said this game only has a deathmatch mode.

Now you're making assumptions about the singleplayer even though you haven't followed any news about this game.

You're here to post negative about Nintendo. That's it.

I'll state it once again:

- The dlc is free.

- It's cheaper in Europe and Japan.

- Buy it in August if you care so much about what's available at launch.

Oh wait, you have no intention of ever buying this game or a Wii U.

I played the demo anùd that's enough for me to know I want this game day one. Have you?

But everyone suggestion is to delay the purchase till the game is more complete, that is the same as delaying the game, I think they are taking advantage of the fans, asking them for the money in advance by offering them an product lacking content and the promise of adding the content as they finish it. And they are hurting the rating of the game in the process, which could turn some buyers away.

By the way it was not Kirby released this week in Europe, and are you not getting Yoshi in June? I think the problem with the lack of games is more focused on America and here is where they are asking for the full price.

Almost no one wants to buy Kirby. Especially in Europe.

To retread what I said earlier, the game wont be fully complete until August eitherway (release with frequent updates or delay it). They are asking for your money now but you don't have to give it to them until you want to. It's for those that want to play the game asap, much like myself.

The most important aspect of a game, being the gameplay, is fully intact. If reviewers prioritize content over what makes said content relevant in the first place then they fail at reviewing and should be disregarded completely.

I kinda want Mario Sunshine DLC. A new team will be called ''Soakers'' and they'll all use Mario's soaker gun from Mario Sunshine. That team's objective is instead of inking the others turf like usual in the game, they have to clean up the mess the inklings make

then the results end the same as it would in ink vs ink matches, cleanest or dirtiest map result wins
