Forums - Gaming - The Division Is Being Developed By Four Different Ubisoft Studios

yeah, 4 developers, and you wonder why these games need to sell 10 million to be profitable. geez. i wish these publishers wouldnt rush games in order for them to meet a specific time frame, some things just need time. you cant have a baby in 1 month by getting 9 women pregnant.

I think it really depends on the experience they're delivering, I don't think any game benefits from being in development for more then 5 years. If the game is so ambitions that such a dev cycle would be the only alternative I'd argue it should infact have the work broken up by various studios, but it means they need to allow a large quality assessment period which is where I think Ubi falls down... They're too set on annual franchises and AAA holiday releases.

I love this analogy.

I can see this ending in a 90+ meta non profitable game. I feel like Ubisoft has been overconfident for more than a gen now, and it will backfire anytime soon.

90+ meta? I'm willing to bet the meta will be more around low-to-mid 80. I really liked the concept of the game, but I'm getting worried that another studio got called for assistance into developing it.

Why does something about the phrase "developed by four studios" strike fear into my heart? Very rarely does something good come out of such a mess; and it just leads to bloated budgets and longer dev times.

Hopefully it does turn out to be a great title because it looks promising, but still...this doesn't sound good.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I am reminded of the saying "Too many cooks spoil the broth."

No surprise, Ubisoft games are usually made by 100s of people, I guess this one breaks the 1000 mark?

Their open world games feel so soulless, repetitive and shallow. They don't feel like the creative work of a few who put their heart in it. Kojima makes big project games too, yet they ooze with charm and distinctive features. It's like one is a factory, the other is an atelier with a genius in it.

I think this is going to be Ubisofts Destiny... now I know some people love Destiny, but anyone who was disappointed by it will know what I mean.

Yeah. It's gonna be similar I reckon, they said it was online only and a MMO, everything that was said of Destiny pre launch.

Destiny is one of the most disappointing games I've ever played in my life. It could've been good,  had we actually got what was advertised, an epic scifi adventure. Coming from Halo I was expecting a strong campaign and story emphasis, there was none.

Well well they still not learning aren't they, like bananaking told, what they need is time, and not just human power. If they want to make money why don't they just make different games with different team on different time. So once the games is finish the other can make another games and so on, and so on. and they can keep producing different IP for every year, and it's possibly 2 times a year.

Yups agree with this, i also have another quote " you cannot have two head in one body "

You know what other game had 4 other studios working on it?.

Colonial Marines and we all know how that turned out.

This has been teased since 2013 and slightly beforehand and we're now at 2015, after WD and unity I just flat out don't trust ubi to make it a good game and throwing bigger budgets and 4 other studios does not a good game make.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

The game has potential. I hope they don't screw it up.

How will this game pay so many salaries, marketing, etc?
It's gotta sell a gazzilion copies now at full price for that to happen.
