Microsoft hasn't won a generation but it can be argued that the "Xbox" already has. 

Think about it this way, the original Xbox was bashed by fanboys because of the following:

  1.  It was dominated by Western games, especially shooters
  2.  You had to pay to play online
  3.  It was basically a PC in disguise because it was just using customized PC parts

Now compare that to its strengths:

  1. The most powerful console of its generation
  2. Easy to develop on
  3. Easy to port PC games and it made multiplatform development much easier

Now look at the points I've mentioned and look at the console that is winning today.  Basically the PS4 shares far more with the Xbox than the PS2.  That's not even counting indie gaming or apps or any of the other things the xbox brand has  brought to the table.  The  "Xbox" won and it can be seen by the fact that Western developers that dominate now on console.  The entire landscape has changed and we're seeing Konami, Capcom, Square and others that have been pushed down because of it.

I remember gaming on the Xbox and my friend bashing it for being the shooter console, well I wouldn't be surprised if he was playing Destiny right now.  Sony followed the "Xbox" formula perfectly so it's pretty funny (at least to me) to see PS4 fanboys bashing the xbox One and declaing that "Xbox lost".

Let's be clear. At least here, when we talk about winning a Generation, its about who sold more globally.

At the same time, I agree that the Xbox was probably the most influential in its gen because it was the most technically advanced and popularized those features. At the same time, apps and the like truly came from PCs and affected all the new consoles last gen, even Wii had Netflix and Youtube. Western focused development is simply a matter of the growing importance to gaming in the U.S, irrespective of brand.

If MS wants to win a generation they need to treat Xbox more like an end rather than a means. At least for a little while.

The future is subscription based consoles where iterative updates are covered in the subscription on much the same way mobiles are currently handled.

It can happen ofc. but idk. I think the competitors are just a bit ahead of microsoft when it comes to game consoles and games

I guess it could happen, they just have to figure out a way to win over the countries outside of the US. This gen, they seem more concerned about making their console a medi center, rather than focusing on games. It's fine if they want people to be able to watch tv on it, but, isn't that why we have cable and satellite and such?

If Xbox really wanted to win the console market they would just sell X1s for $50 world wide, they can afford to do that (they wont because that wont look good on the shareholders) but if they really wanted to they can. Lucky for Nintendo's Wii they covered all bases including games.

Infamous - Sunset Overdrive
Knack - Ori and the Blind Forest
TLOU-RM - State of Decay-RM
Little Big Planet - Project Spark
Street Fighter V - Killer Instinct
Uncharted 4 - Rise of the Tomb Raider
God of War 4 - Gears of War 4

and many more to come etc.

I haven't put them in the best order but that's only but lets take a good look at that list and can you see a clear winner? Both have better games then the other, Where PS4 has the better Horror game, XB1 has the better Racing game etc

There isn't that much of a difference in terms of quality between the two to justify a superior console and to say one is selling better then the other based off its own library of games. There both equal when it comes to the games, I tip my hat off at Sony for there great marketing because honestly that's all it takes these days to sell consoles. With the change of CEOs at Xbox, they will learn from this and only become better for it with there next effort.

PS3 had a slow start last gen and even out at the end of the generation, XB1 is having a slow start this generation and will most likely end on the same note as PS4.

Gamers need to rejoice and stop hating on other systems. I am a PC gamer and to see people talk down at one another is just sad and gives gaming a bad name. If the 360 didnt do what it did to the PS3 last gen, do you think the PS4 would be what it is today? No.


Comparing Bloodborne to Dead Rousing makes me want to use violence to express my opinion. I'll abstain and say No, there is nothing on XB1 that comes even close to Bloodborne. Except Dark Souls II, but PS4 has that, too.


Thats your opinion. I mention i didnt put these in the correct order plus DR3 and Bloodbourn are both good exclusive, different games but both good at what they do. Iv played Bloodboune aswell as DR3 and none of them are system sellers in my opinion. Which goes back to what im saying, Both systems have the same type of games, some are better then others on different systems but it doesnt mean one console is selling better then the other based off quality of games. Its all down to how a console is marketed. Much like the Wii.
