Forums - Sales - I keep seeing people downplaying the PS4 launch in China

Pre PS4 release: China is the new heaven of gaming market.... it will make Xbone closes the gap only with 1% of population.

Pos PS4 release: All console sold bad in China... terrible market.

To be fair PS4 did a really good launch in China... Xbone tanked hard.

x3 better than XBO launch, but still poor imo.

It's not stellar, but the PS4 managed to outsell the XB1's 8 months' worth of sales in just 1 month.

I think it's a good start.

Xbox One had the title of being the first system released since the ban. Which generated a lot of publicity, and got sales beyond what a console would normally get. Considering the PS4 has caught up after being delayed with a limited selection of game in a short time frame, I would consider that a success.

I was always in the China won't save gaming camp.

Nah that isn't fair Etho, and you know it. Some sony fans also held PS4 release as "China is the new heaven of gaming market".

It is a terrible market, for what it is. I never thought Xbox or PS4 were suddenly become huge in that market.

75k in country with 2 billion people is pretty crappy. The chinese government never gave the video game consoles a legit chance there...

Honestly after all these years of them not allowing consoles I never expected any of them to suddenly do well overnight let alone in a short peroid of time, it's going to take years with China since they've been about PC gaming for decades.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Considering NPD of some systems I wouldn't say it's bad.

Err, what?  NPD?  China?

Systems selling less than 100k in USA mature market. so by comparison this isn't so bad.

It's also a product launch.  More than that, it's a product launch of a type of product that is rarely available (legally) there.  Don't compare such a rare launch period to general monthly sales in the US.  Wait for a few months and then do some comparisons.

Don't get it wrong, I think 75k (still unsure if those are official numbers or not...we just don't know) is rather good.  I just think it's invalid to hold them up to some general NPD figures.

You can hold it agaisnt the only other thing you can compare... X1 launch and monthly sales... basically PS4 is doing 8:1 over it. We don't have anything else to compare besides this and NPD or other developed countries not selling very fast.
