Forums - Sony - Sony skipping Gamescom in favour of Paris Games Week

Oh and wasn't Paris the one to get the first FF15 gameplay in last year?
Seems like Square is thinking like Sony, maybe we'll see it there after TGS.

Wild Sheep Studio and Quantic Dream are also French developers. Putting all the pieces together, I can see why Sony has decided to forgo doing a Gamescom press conference this year.

Considering how underwhelming Gamecom is every year this isn't really a bad thing.

I disagree with you on so many levels on that one...... E3 is the best but Gamescom is not far behind

IIRC Gamescom last year was nothing but Indies. Yeah... no where near E3.

Your point?

Indies > AAA

Most people here enjoy indies....

No matter how good indie games can be (less then 10% of them are actually worthy of your time in all honesty) they will never be as good as a groundbreaking AAA title like Portal, God of War, Super Mario Galaxy or Uncharted That is pretty much a fact.

I mostly agree that even tough Gamescom became decent in the last 2 years its still underwhelminf when compared to E3 or even TGS.

Well then MS just won Gamescom by default.....the sweetest kind of victory :P

Sony wins Europe by default, no need to show up if they have there own conference later.

...........win the conference warz. I am well aware of PS4 hardware sales in Europe. This is vgchartz....

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Hope they still use Gamescom to show some gameplay, we will probably not see Rime  or Wild at E3, so it might be there.

I believe Sony will be having booths at Gamescom. They just won't hold a press conference. E3 and Gamescom are so close to each other this year that Sony will just end up repeating the same announcements. Who really wants that?

Big Ubisoft reveal maybe?...

I'm not sure if the fact it is moving to Paris is signifcant in terms of what games are going to be shown. I think it is just about the timing of the conferences this year.

Could be.

Well if it is, that would make Ubisoft being involved more likely. Quantic Dream too.

Conference wars? E3, TGS , paris gameshow and playstation experience, you want more?

Hey I dont make the rules. Fans like to see who "wins" the main 3 conferences: E3, gamescom, and TGS.

cross posting from other thread:

The problem is that E3 and Gamescom are too close to each other, even more than ever this year with E3 being a week later and GC a week earlier than usual. Thats only 1.5 months between those 2.

Imo Sony done the right thing, the announcements should be spread out more, 1 big show every half a year, while PSX should be for promoting games that are coming out soon in Q1/Q2 or teasers for full reveals 6 month later at E3
