I recall seeing this in another movie, could this be a secret trend in films?! It's a conspirancy! A conspirancy, I tell you!
I'm now filled with determination.

On that note, it's interesting that "looks/feels like a video game" is used as an insult in regards to movies, while "this is (almost) like a movie" and the buzzword "cinematic" are used as positives in regards to video games. |
I'm not sure this is one of your standard ironical/sarcastic posts, and my sarcasm meter just broke, or if your serious. So I'll just point out; no.

The hobbit films looked like computer games to me. I didn't like it at all. I mean why have CGI uruks? Lotr was better 10 years ago
It would make sense for the movie industry to try at least. VG industry nets more money with lower budgets.

Actual it is reasonable because both are on the same industry, which is entertainment Industry, it has a lot of common, and can be inspired from the same thing. and Video games has become more mainstream then ever. Maybe Op has a small example, and only view movies has adopted this kind of thing. But i thing we will see more on the future where Movie and cinema also evolving along with video games.
Actually Japan have this idea with their entertainment Industry a long time ago, a lot of anime adopted games like story, camera view, dialog, etc. So it's not weird that cinema and movies (some) will follow that direction in near future.

I know i agree with all of that but disagree with everyone else who says its not like a videogame both the CGI visuals and the physics stuff... the problem here with movies you mentioned is, they did not prepare us for what is going to happen what is possible.. its just coming out of nowhere and they expect it to work that is just lazy. edge of tomorrow is a good example how to make a videogame movie, they gradually introduce what to expect and what is possible, it doesnt just come out of someones ass like in the hobbit movies which rely to much on the original trilogy because of that they thought they could do anything i guess.
movies these days (high budget blockbusters) are not made to last period. the avengers already look outdated the new avengers age of ultron looks like a cartoon from what ive seen in the trailers and jurassic park from 25 years ago looks better than the new coming out in a month or two ..overall it does. my point these are all new high budget films and they wont last long. i guess people dont pay much attention here but from what ive seen real movie goers see the difference like night and day.. and what is that shit with those digital cameras is still dont get it but i blame them also ..
