Forums - Sales - Updated LTD data for PS4 and XB1 in Germany

Wow...well, not as bad as in Japan at least.

I found this post from gaf interesting
"Let us not forget that Scandinavian TierX retailers imported a lot Xbone of consoles from Germany before MS decided they are worthy of receiving official support. So these German sales are not even showcasing true state of Xbone gaming in Germany.

edit - XBone sales arrived in Scandinavia in September of 2014, almost year after launch in US/Tier1 EU countries

wondering if that accounts towards xbox one sales(which are good btw).

Well technically it could be overtracked in Germany and still overtracked in Europe, but I know what you mean

The XOne sales are pretty good by themselves, but the PS4 sales are just insane.

Really, Conegamer? Launch-aligned, the Xbox One should be about 100k units ahead of the Wii U, and Nintendo's console is a complete disaster. It's also selling at a pace that will amount to 1.5m units over the course of five years which isn't much in a market as big as Germany.

Well in honesty sales in Germany isn't my forte, and I noticed that VGC has it at 325k (http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/42085/Germany/), so I felt as it was undertracked that the numbers weren't too bad.

400k units didn't sound too bad to me but perhaps it's struggling more than I initially thought. That is my error for making assumptions.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

All scandinavian countries together have lnot that much more population than Northrhine Westphalia alone. At the same time i dont believe every importer imported from Germany.

Now, Xbox One had a really tough first half 2014 over here. Expensive, less powerful...
It gained momentum basically from september/october 2014 onwards.

Xbox One had really terrible summer over here, especially the time after Mario Kart 8. There where about two and a half months with Wii U sales being at least twice as high, the first weeks an even bigger difference.
Last christmas again was a little tough for Microsoft. But things actually keep turning.

Once again, this is Playstation nation as well as PC-land.

Wait, Xbox One undertracked in Germany? It's by such a small amount that it doesn't really matter, but still highly ironic considering the number of people claiming Xbox One is overtracked in Europe

I have to disagree with that. They are poor for the biggest economy in Europe and a population size of 80 million.

4.42 : 1  YTD

Not as bad as i thought...

How is VGchartz tracking?

Why did you think it would be worse? LTD the ratio is 4.23:1 so YTD has PS4 further ahead than LTD. Which means things are going down hill for Xb one.

Both under tracked compared to VGC 6.2% in the case of PS4 and about 15% for Xb one. YOu'd e3xpect BGC to be tracking PS4 better because Sony has regularly given sell through updates, which allows VGC to adjust according to an official sales number. The VGC ratio is 4.6:1 so that makes Xb one look slightly worse than it actually is. But in the end there is several days of daylight between the two, regardless of whether you look at VGC or other sources, and that's what matters in terms of considering market strength. Is it close or is there a big difference? That's what market analysts want to know.

Global lifetime totals wouldn't really help with getting individual countries such as this correct though.

Yes it would. I assume VGC has a fairly good idea of the market shares of most of the major markets, so if Germany is reasonably expected to be ~X% of the global PS4 market, then knowing with a high degree of accuracy the global LTD means it's a simple calculation to have a pretty decent idea of the German LTD. And of course having a highly accurate estimate of USA (thanks to NPD) and an extremely accurate estimate for Japan, thanks to Media Create and Famitsu, means half the global market share work is done for you already.

Not sure why Cone is suggesting Xb one sales are good when taken in isolation from PS4. 360 should be the benchmark for doing well for Xb one, and the way Xb one is going right now it doesn't have a shit show of reaching the 2.6 million of 360. It will be doing well to get half of that at this rate. Selling about 200K last year it looks like it could achieve 300K in its peak year, and over 5 years that's looking to be about 1.3-1.5 million lifetime. And I don't see Xb one having an extended life like 360. But you never know I guess.

So, basically great X1 sales and amazing PS4 sales then? :)

That seens to be the X1 problem everywhere, its not doing bad but the PS4 is just insane and by comparision the X1 looks bad.
