Forums - Nintendo - 2nd Splatoon Ad NA

Comparing the two, it's a noticeable improvement. Less talking, more camera angles, more energy. The real issue is the actual person doing the narration, he sounds very forced. Overall, it's a decent commercial. Hope for a single player ad using some music from the Octarian introduction trailer.

Still kinda sucks as far as commercials go, but whatever.

bet: lost

If this is their marketing for the game ... I hate to say it but I don't think it's going to do what a lot of Nintendo fans think it will here.

It'll maybe sell OK, but not great.

If they had mario characters in this then i would have become big success but i doubt this. Lets see and wish good luck.

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

they have no idea how to sell this game, do they?

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

I'm afraid that more or less goes for the Wii U itself. Nintendo cannot sell the console so the games will suffer the same :(.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

That narrator should not have taken a day off from school to do this. Seriously; he ruins the whole thing.

Average video game commercial for the early 2000s.

I mean seriously would it have been so hard to come up with a interesting scenario that would actually GRAB attention. It shows gameplay which is fine but how many of the actual blockbuster games out there JUST have narration and game play shots? Don't know who is in charge of advertising in NoA but how they haven't been fired yet is odd.

I mean last few decent advertising campaigns I've seen on tv for Nintendo have been Smash 4, Bayonetta 2 and Fire Emblem: Awakening. Bayonetta 2 and FE: Awakening, mainly worked because of the high quality cinematic cutscenes shown that were shown for those games along with gameplay. Everything else... I never see on TV or were pretty boring.

And for a premise like Splatoon which can easily be tied to things like paintball of water guns, you'd think maybe hiring a decent narrator or actor to help grab attention would be obvious since the game has no known recognizable characters yet.

Better than the last commercial, but still not anything special overall..

This.

Ad didnt do anything for me, or make me want to purchace it.

"get ready!.... to get ink'ed"   Are you kidding me? even the guy that voices it cant sound enthusiastic.

This ad is better than the other one

It is better. The announcer seems so... late 80's early 90's. Of course a gruff voice wouldn't fit in this kind of scenario either. It's probably a shot at appealing to a larger audience.

Despite all the negativity about this game that keeps popping up, I'm still quite interested in it.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.
