Forums - Gaming - Is Ori and The Blind Forest the Best Looking Game this Generation? (If not, what is?)

It's got a pretty art style. I kinda wish we'd see a FF9 remake with those kinda of living backgrounds with new-ish models on top. It'd be nice.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

This is the interesting thing about a graphics debate.

You can have artistically gorgeous games that might not push as many polygons as other titles (Ori for example), games that achieve particular standards at the expense of graphics (60 fps for example), great looking games that look that good at the expense of design (Ryse, The Order) and wide open games with huge sprawling areas (GTA5).

Each one is impressive in their own right.

Trine 3, bitch.

It's a great looking game, that's for sure.

IMO, when it comes to graphics, Bloodborne is the most impressive this gen.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I'd say best art style this gen, which is debatable obviously.

In terms of sheer graphical fidelity, no way.
I'd say Ryse still has that on lock.

The Order 1886 would strongly disagree with you on that. id argue that the Order and Driveclub are on a league of their own when it comes to visuals so far

No.

Trine 3 beat Ori by miles.

Looks damn fine! I'm kidding, it looks beautiful and the art design is simply magnificant. However I think Ryse, The Order and Bloodborne are the best (in that order).

It's certainly up there. I've been playing it this weekend and during the whole intro sequence I was staring with a stupid smile on my face.

By contrast, another game I played last weekend was MGS: Ground Zeroes and while the game is much more graphically demanding I would say I was more impressed by Ori. To be fair, I've always been an art style > graphics kind of guy.

Signature goes here!

For me its The Order 1886 hands down. great graphics from a technicial and artistic level. simply stunning.

sometimes i was convinced that when playing this game every second looked like it could be an amazing screen saver. it just looks fantastic.

On the spectrum I'd say Infamous: SS for 3D and Child of Light for 2D art.

That said Ori does look nice.
