Forums - Gaming - Call of Duty: Black Ops III non-partnership with MS confirmed?

I believe either Sony has it, or neither has it.
It benefits Activision either way because they're no longer favouring the generations underdogs. Having a month late dlc to the majority of your market is dangerous for the reputation of the brand.
It never really affected ps3 players, because we were used to being treated like s*** by all the publishers, at least until the ps3 started picking up steam.
If they don't side with either, they're not upsetting any fans, they're not directly competing with halo/battlefronts partnership & they're not forced into having xbox-only tournaments, so they can potentially get another 6-7 million people trying out for the tournaments

I have to seriously ask... Why does this matter so much?

Because if a franchise of this magnitude changes hands, it can negatively affect the sales of the XB1.

Well for who?

MS: it will lost one of big hardware sellers every year

Gamers: you won't have more 1 month DLC exclusivity

Sony: the competition won't have the biggest hardware seller

You are talking about CoD here... not a small/medium franchise... it is huge and move hardware with bundles every year for MS... this will affect the indrutry and gamers after all.

1 month DLC exclusivity being annihilated would be the best thing for gamers and the industry.

Last time I checked MS will still have CoD on the shelves? Competitive lives on Xbox platforms.

Current gaming platforms - Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, New 3DS, PC

...really? We are making presumptions based on something Gamestop probably designed?

Bottomline, if MS isnt paying for exclusive marketing then Sony will.

If Sony does have marketing for Black Ops 3 the only reason I can imagine Microsoft willingly letting go of that is because Microsoft has something bigger they are gonna market/or have exclusive.

They do have Halo 5 to market big time this year. In terms of multi platform games there's only one thing bigger than CoD and that's GTA. But there will be no GTA6 this year.

Well, seeing how much Sony getting the marketing rights for GTA5 helped PS3 and PS4 big time, I somehow doubt Sony's gona let that go, sitting down. MS has both Halo 5 and RotTR to bank on for the rest of this year, plus another possible exclusive IP to be revealed at E3. Seeing how much emphasis MS put on Exclusives last year, it wouldn't shock me if they aren't exactly fighting for continued rights of CoD, given that they didn't really help push that many XB1 units last year.

Honestly, I'm starting to see Sony going back to their PS1/ PS2 days when thye put more emphasis on third party. We all know that there's a crap ton of exclusives coming to the console, but third party content is what really sells. MS are gonna be how Sony was last gen, playing the more humble and showing gamers that their biggest emphasis is on exclusives.
