Forums - Nintendo - Sakurai calls DLCs these days a scam

Nintendo isn't a single entity, you don't know what the developers of the games care for. Some people are passionate about things other than money.

The Nintendo is a company, and if someone is saying the company cares about your family them the answer must address the company as a whole... and funny I haven't seem you answering when people were saying things about nintendo as company that was favourable to them... well do whatever you want. Nintendo is a company and its first objective is money.

I don't know that anyone is arguing that. I have REPEATEDLY said they are in it to make money.  Any company that is not in it to make money will not last long, let alone for 100+ years.  When you see a company leave random chat out of a game, at the risk of alienating parts of their potential audience why do you think they do it?

If they left out voice chat because the system wasn't capable of it then their reasoning would be a cop out, but we know the Wii U can handle voice chat (see COD:BO2, and COD:Ghosts).  I have to assume you think it is bullshit and they are only trying to trick people into thinking their games are family friendly.

Ok for first point. I didn't understand the second one, and call of duty was released on Wii.

What does Call of Duty on Wii have to do with anything?

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

This is a little hypocritical... Expensive DLC on his game that he created.

so the issue I have with the "it released so soon after release why wasn't it on the disc?" argument is that games are finished long before they actually come to print, and it would make sense to have some of the team working on additional content during that down time. There's simply no direct evidence that the DLC was ready before the fll game went to print and it was decided to be omitted for most of these games. I mean who's to say that Nintendo hadn't made all its DLC during the full development, decided to keep it out to sell it later, and then just waited longer than the companies everyone is accusing of being so evil?

Free DLC on release (AT LEAST for a certain timeframe), problem solved. Nah, better charge 10-20 bucks when the gamer got the game for 30-40 (don't tell me you're all buying games for 60-70, you can tell that your neighbor if you want to brag) during the first week for a bit of extra content that is actually 1/20 of the game. Nintendo at least gives you 1/5 for the price of 1/5 and doesn't throw an ad at you when you launch the game for the first time.

There's a simple solution, though, still, as has always been: don't buy DLC. I once checked how many people talk bad about DLC but still buy it (simply check their achievements/trophies; it's not like they all got it for free from some promotion) for many many games. Easy way to see who's just talking all day on the net.

(also, define your "long" - games aren't finished "long" before release in my book of vague words)

Because it wasn't in the game.  Because it took five months after the game came out for MewTwo to be finished, because they announced they had begun work on it in November last year, AFTER the game had already been released.  Because, as Sakurai has stated, it's a smaller team that was brough together after the main game was completed, to continue to make new content for the game, to support the game post-release.  A concept that a lot of people here seem to confuse with withholding content from a game prior to release.

Because thay said so? I wonder if your going to believe it if lets say capcom didn't include one of the most sought after character then release it as a paid dlc a couple of months later...

Okay, so I guess I have to post this AGAIN....  MewTwo was designed as a reward (plus a soundtrack CD) for people who bought both copies of Smash (Wii U and 3DS).  If it's put in the game from the start and available to everyone, it's wouldn't be a reward now would it?  I've only mentioned this 4 different times in this thread.  But, people prefer to argue about things they don't understand without bothering to read or research.

well a couple of weeks or a month before release should be long enough to look into DLC that can be made, and that's how long game's usually get between "going gold" and final release.  You'd have to talk to a developer to get an idea of how long before "going gold" the game is essentially done (particularly for certain staff such as artists) and they could either work on the next game, work on DLC, or get laid off.

This isn't expensive dlc though.

It's in line with other fighting games, even slightly cheaper in most cases.

You mentioned cod, as if that would show they care about families.
