Yes anything you don't agree with must be fake.

He probably moreso means that if you rate the number of devices which have been used to play something like candy crush it is unlikely that device was purchased with playing said game in mind, ie no one buys a gaming pc/phone because Candy crush is available on it, it just happens to be there as a time waster while waiting for a bus. Something like GTA5 on the other hand is a game which influences buying of gaming specific hardware because it is a reason to own a system it on.

He also didn't claim it to be fake information, just invalid since the 22billion spent wouldn't break down well over all "gaming" if people are including pcs which are used for a facebook game once a month as a gaming purchase or a mobile phone which you bring with you for dropping kids off at the pool being a 600dollar gaming spend.

Pretty much this.  Invalid and fake do not mean the same thing.

I'm more surprised at the 27% of gamers that are +50. I'm going to assume most of those were like in their 20s when Nintendo came out.

Wouldn't that require being over one-hundred?

Or for you mean the NES...

oops i meant NES xD lol thanks

They would have to be 145 years old for this to be possible.

Sorry i meant the NES

Most of those 44% are playing the kim kadarshian game on their phones.

No, but it's not invalid, either.  A statistic is a statistic.  Just because it includes information that goes outside the scope or interest of a forum like this does not mean that it holds no value.  It's only irrelevant for our purposes, not overall.

The only thing that annoys me is when people try to use the statistic without context, either to further their own agenda or because they don't understand that context themselves.  Mass media is especially bad for that but, honestly, they don't usually care about providing context for anything unless it makes a situation look worse.

I'd like to see the numbers without the inclusion of Smart Phones. I think the numbers would tell a different tale.

Most popular genre? Social games...

Instantly invalidates this.

This!

If this study was made only towards consoles/hardcore gamers the results would be completely different!

That's cool, I love the fact that to some people gaming in refered to as "playing Nintendo" still, even when they're talking about ps4/X1

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

All of these "studies" are skewed. Social and Mobile games do not qualify someone as a "gamer". It completely screws up the results
