Too late for sony to make a comeback, and seeing the WW sales trend for the past months, it will never happen. Of course getting the 360 wont be tough but they have to achieve it first.

You can't compare the PS3 to the GC. The market has changed too much, the PS3 sales will blow the GC away. The GC also had a very bad Zelda in the wind waker, and a bad Mario game. The GC also had very front heavy sales, while the PS3 sales will continue to get stronger.


Um...are you talking about this Mario game and this Zelda game that both average well over 90%? Try playing the games before criticizing them just listening to what other people said.

Like I said, a game or two alone won't carry a system. If a few good games could carry a system then the GC would have sold much better (and possibly better than the PS2) since it had most of the top games last gen.

 


Say what now? This Nintendo fanboyism is getting a bit out of hand here...


 We can go by our own personal tastes or we can go by something like Gamerankings.  I go by Gamerankings and the GC holds most of the top titles last gen I believe.

It can and it is, without Wii Sports the Wii would be in last place right now.

I couldn't care less where 360 is on that list... you don't expect PS2 to grow in sales do you? In any case Wii is and always will be uncatchable in any category, no matter how you want spin this. Profit, software sales, console sale...wii will be number 1. 

Even if PS3 catches up to 360 in some 2-3 years and sells some 60 million consoles to 360's 40 million lets say...its still the big loser of the generation. Microsoft would have doubled their userbase while sony lost half of it...

This will mean that when next gen starts, developers would not be so eager to grab their dev kits off the bat...exclusives will slip to other consoles...the domino effect. Its already happening...

 


 Nope, I expect the PS2 sales to drop but I also expect the PS3 sales to grow. But you right no other console will kick ass like the PS2 did last gen, not even the Wii will sell that much more than others. The PS2 managed a pretty amazing feat

 Anyway , the is doing very good. It managed to sell the LTD of the GC in a little over a year. The X360 on the other hand is doing pretty bad, it's going to take 3 years to actually sell the LTD sales of the original XB, so only about 25% (1 year) faster.

Want proof look at the ps1 when FF VII was released.


FFVII + a good library. Also, you can't assume every game will be a fluke.

When lets just say MGS4, the PS3 is going to have MGS4 and still a mediocre library.


PS3 has a mediocre library? Really? So what do you call the Wii's library? As far as I know PS3's library is pretty solid and will be even better in June when MGS4 comes out.

RockBand, GH3, Uncharted, R&C, CoD4, Resistance, DMC4 and Oblivion (just to name a few) + Haze + GTAIV + GT5P, are not what I would call a mediocre library.

 Oh I didn't want to get dragged into this but why not?

Everyone, everyone, at my work has a PS3.  Do you know how many of us have played it in the last month?  A few us, maybe 3 or 4.  Do you know how many of us have played it in the last 2 months?  Probably 6 or 7.  The last time any of ours PS3's really got any play was when Uncharted came out and that was really the last time.  Now this doesn't count playing movies, this is actually playing games.

I think some people may have played CoD4  in the last few months but those were just rentals, everyone else has it for the 360.  A few people bought Assassin's Creed for the PS3, but again, the rest went to the 360.  I only played my PS3 for the first time since early January this weekend to play Lost, one of the worst games I've ever played (which has nothing to do with Sony, just mentioning it's a terrible game).

I don't deny that the PS3 has some good games but they're kind of like the Gamecube: few and far between.  Really the only things everyone here uses their PS3 for is either a dust magnet or a movie player (which it is excellent at I admit), and then there are people who still haven't even bothered taking theirs home yet.  It's still just sitting unopened in their office (though that's only about three people).

Now I'm not saying that the above represents everyone, but working at a game studio you can assume that everyone here is some sort of gamer so 70+ people isn't a bad sample. 

Also just before say something, I'm not actually dogging on the PS3.  It does have some fine games and it has some fine games coming, just the library isn't anything that great as it hasn't been getting many really good titles lately and it doesn't have a lot of titles that keep people playing that aren't already on other systems.
