Forums - Sony Discussion - Star Ocean 5 announced for PS4, PS3

A lot of people are saying PS2 days.... I don't think people remember PS2 days. Looking forward to this, even if number 4 wasn't the greatest. Hopefully Tri-Ace long break between the last notable console title means they are back.

Also PS3 release for a game a ways off.... don't know what to think of that.

Not only do i remember those days i still play on my ps2(playing suikoden2)

Sure quality wise the ps4 is nothing compared to 2 but tbh..in the secons year of the ps2 there where a LOT less games than the ps4 has now.

Not even talking about the horrible start ps3 had.

And people say this gen wil be the worst ever.

Ha  ha   ha!

Hopefully they won't pull that "no PS3 release for the west" again.

That really ruined Dragon Quest Heroes for me. Why not just release the PS3 version internationally? They must not like extra sales.

More details.

Star Ocean 5 takes place on a planet called Feycreed, which is 6,000 light-years away from the planet Earth. The full title is Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness.

Fedel Camus: The protagonist. He specializes in swordsmanship, and maintains the peace and order of the town.

Miki Sorvesta: The heroine. She’s a childhood friend of the protagonist, and loves Fedel like an older brother.

Lilia: A young girl who has lost her feelings and memories.

The screenshots for the game show a blonde swordsman and a blue-haired witch or magic girl fighting in combat. Battles take place in real-time seamless fashion, and attacking methods change according to the distance between you and the enemy. You can perform combos by inputting multiple button presses.

In addition to having plenty of event scenes like in past Star Ocean titles, there will be seamless events where enemies will attack you in the middle of some events. If party members get captured by enemies in these events, it can change the story and ending of the game.

Characters are designed by Akiman, while Shuichi Kobayashi is the producer. Meanwhile, Hiro Ogawa is the director, and Yoshiharu Gotanda is the lead programmer for Star Ocean 5.

I found SO4 a little disappointing (it didn't live up to my expectations from SO3), but i enjoyed it enough that i'm exited to see how this turns out. It would have been nice if they could have made it 8th gen only, but SO isn't really the type of game to push technical boundaries so i doubt it'll have much of an effect on the end result.

I'm surprised by the lack of an X1 version though, SO4 sold well on the 360. Could be that it's just a PS3/PS4 exclusive in Japan. Pretending the X1 doesn't exist there makes sense :p

Oh you meant quality, sorry I thought you were talking about JRPG selection of PS2. Ya, this is much better compared to ps3 first two years (I think because Xbox360 Japan was eating away at PS3's selection of certain titles.)

Also I WANT NEW SUIKODEN! Stupid KONAMI!

hmm my feeling for this news is 50 50, 50% happy like crazy but 50% is not sure if it's cross gen games, because i doubt this game will be open world if it's coming to last gen console as well , but i hope i am wrong, i am still hoping this game to be open world games like XCX or FFXV. but time will tell, just hoping to God for the best.
