Here in sunny northern ireland (dunno about the rest of the uk) it's been possible to walk into a store and buy a wii for a while now. Doesn't seem to be supply constrained. That said, Wii sales figures tend to fluctuate much more than other consoles. Very hard to predict. One week it's double or tripple everything the next it's half or equal. Whatever the case, it's still selling by the f***tonne

 Will people ever realize how stupid they sound when they say stuff like that.  The GC was cheaper than the Wii at $199 and got owned.  The price isn't why the Wii is winning.  I wish Sony would just bite the bullet financially and drop all SKUs below $200 so that once sales normalize again after the price drop spike and the Wii still doesn't disappear the fanboys would shut up.  Of course knowing them they'd just pick another reason to complain so I guess it's useless.

 That isn't true at all. The Wii is selling so well, not because it is the cheapest console, but because it captured the imagination of millions of people world wide. The PS3 would have sold a lot better at the Wii price point, but it wouldn't have gorgeous graphics or Blu-ray. It would be a completely different machine.

Leo-j, that is a flat out lie. My god, all I said was M&S was sold out at Amazon UK and you blow it way out of proportion. We KNOW M&S was supply constrained and the weekly sales COMPLETELY CONFIRMED IT.

I hope all you Americans are listening to the large number of Europeans who've posted in this thread. However hard it is for you to believe, THE WII IS NOT SUPPLY CONSTRAINED IN EUROPE! I'm sure some Wiis were diverted to NA but that has not led to supply contraints. The Wii has been in stock on Amazon all week as well as other major internet and high street retailers. Shop To even discounted it! I'm sure people can come up with examples of individual stores which don't have Wiis but that applies to the other consoles and most games too.

If the numbers are correct then the PS3 beat the Wii fair and square this week. Why is that so hard for some of you to accept? Why does it bother you so much? It's not like the Wii's struggling for survival.

Is there a link to the amazon.co.uk "out of stock" history for the Wii. I just checked and it's out of stock right now. :(
