Apologies, I'll refrain from further diversion.

I know it's impossible, but damn do I wish they could get Final Fantasy VI on it like they got III and IV on the DS. I'd buy it for that.

Trust me, so would everyone

They need to have 2-3 strong titles in the launch window and MUST have 1-2 big games in the post-launch window (this is now just as important).
1 game doesn't cut it anymore.
So this would be a good launch ...
Super Mario Galaxy 3 (launch day)
F-Zero NX (smaller scale title)
Animal Crossing (1 month after launch)
Luigi's Mansion 3 (2 months after launch)
Mario Kart 9 (4-6 months after launch)
That is a good launch. Then bring in Pokemon as the 2nd holiday title when you have some install base.
Having one big-ish game at launch and then nothing for the next 2-3 months ... not a good launch.

Ya they really butchered the 3DS first 6 months or so by not having a strong lineup.
March-Nintendogs+Cats, Pilotwings Resort, Steel Diver
June-Ocarina of Time 3D
September-Star Fox 64 3D
October-Pokemon Rumble Blast
November-Super Mario 3D Land
December-Mario Kart 7
They should have delayed it to August, launched it at $199.99, had Nintendogs+Cats & Ocarina of Time 3D as big launch titles launch with Pilotwings Resort & Steel Diver as smaller support titles. Then September-December each had a 1st party exclusive to keep momentum going and giving it a strong holiday. I really hope the next handheld follows a strategy more similar to this.
When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.
Wii U was crap too
November - NSMBU, Nintendo Land, Sing Party, Ninja Gaiden 3 (publisher)
December - Nada
January - Nada
Feb - Nada
March - LEGO City
April - Nada
May - Nada
June - Game & Wario
This is horrific planning, even if one of Pikmin 3/Wonderful 101 hadn't been delayed that still would be piss poor.
Like I said if the NX/next gen portable for Nintendo has another bad launch -- Iwata should be fired and sent to go work for Sega. Three bad launches in a row is unacceptable.
This is the internet. There is no best launch scenario that will ever be good (enough).
Having said that a launch full 3D pokemon would be vital.
Animal Crossing and another title that captures the Nintendo magic would be a must. But really we'd need to see mainline support from 3rd parties.

This was what my previous on topic message was about, its about future not past, hypothetical launch. and that last line is also off topic!

Definitely Pokemon. That's where they need to get the Next Gen right.

We're talking about what the launch window should be, everything in my post is relevant and related to that. You can start a topic but it's not really your say to dictate all discussion points. That's kind of why it's called a message board.
The future is informed by the past, there's no question Nintendo has to consider their past mistakes with the previous two launches in how they handle a potential future launch.
