I think the fact that Persona 4 the golden sold as much as the original is an indication that the IP is bigger then before.

Being ps3/ps4 multiplat dosn't mean it won't boost ps4,Dragon quest here is cross-gen yet it boosted ps4 because it had a bundle

Yes, it boosted it a little. I didn't say it won't boost the PS4 at all, but certainly its not going to convince many people to spend $400 on a new console when they can play the same game on their older console. Persona 4 is nowhere near as large of a series as Dragon Quest in brand appeal and icon. Expect any bundle boost to be less. Also consider than Dragon Quest wasn't the only big release for PS4 in the weeks PS4 was boosted above its baseline.

What kind of boost you expect from Persona 5

I definitely want more JRPG's to play. I hope that more japanese devs take more interest in the ps4.

I think fundamentally Japan is still a mobile country. PS4 will sell along the lines of the PS3.

Nintendo's next handheld should be considerably more powerful than the Vita given rapid advances in mobile tech (Vita chip is laughably outdated today), and that will be the no.1 dedicated gaming platform in Japan going forward.

An average of +15k for five weeks or a total of 15 * 5 = +75k. Slightly less than what I would've expeced for the DQ:Heroes boost if we eliminated the boosts from the release of other titles like Bloodborne, Yakuza, and Final Fantasy.

Console gaming is dead in Japan.

PS1 + N64 + SS = 33.0 million +

PS2 + XBX + GC = 26.5 million +

PS3 + 360 + Wi = 24.5 million +

PS4 + ONE + WU = 3.70 million

Indeed it is. Should be able to do so for much of the year... sans the occasional droughts in the year.

This year PS4 has big hitters like bloodborne, ff type 0, dragonball xenoverse (already released), yakuza zero, persona 5, mgs v pp, one piece pirate warriors 3 and biggest anime game of the year Naruto shippuden uns 4. Plus good number of Japan centric games. In home console only Wii U is close to PS4 and it is lacking all of these games. So PS4 has no threat in Japan when it comes to home consoles.

Bloodborne and Xenoblade Chronicles X will likely end at the same sales lifetime (250-300k for both) and probably will sell a similar number of consoles for both platforms. Persona 5 is releasing on PS3 and One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 released for PS3, Vita, and PC, so they won't likely sell many consoles. Wii U also has Revelations # FE, and Splatoon can possibly be successful in Japan. Mario Maker will be succesful, but likey won't sell many consoles.

Bloodborne allready sold 150k in Japan, it will probably sell over 400k lifetime there alone.

Not really. The wii was not a real core console but leaded towards the casuals. This and the fact that the 7th gen was the longest gen being over 8 years would make the 8 gen consoles a sucess in japan if they would sell over 15 million units. At least it would certainly give more AAA titles than last gen.
