I do not get it either. They are both better than wii u by far. That is true brotherhood!

But seriously, I think there's 3 main factors involved.
1: Basic human psychology. People will associate themselves with a community, whether that's the "PlayStation" community or "Xbox" community. Once this happens, people will try to support the community they are part of.
2: Justification. People want to convince themselves that their console choice was the correct one, so they'll try bashing any competitors to ensure this, even if they're living in delusion. (Most of the time a troll says "I own both, and the other console sucks!" They are simply lying)
3: Peer pressure. Because so many people fight over plastic boxes, people feel pressured to join the fray with everyone else.
And it's not just consoles, either. You can find this exact stuff in other areas. Democrat vs Republican, Intel vs AMD, Nvidia vs AMD, Apple vs Android, and also many sports.
EDIT: It's also wise to not get yourself involved with console wars in any way, even if you're just trying to prove that someone is acting stupid. Refer to my sig.

This war is already over. It's now xb1 and ps4 fanb... i mean fans holding their hands and going against the wii u on sinking boat that is called "video game market"

No they are not, thé console identity is created by exclusives.
And its stupid to say that some one who like PS4 will like X1 because PS4 has much more variety, if you have various tastes, and doesnt hâte japanese games, you will necessary take a PS4

If yout ake away any notion of a war that is happening, you will see that if you don't like the PS4, you're not going to like the X1 either. They do the same things and get all the same games. The only thing that differentiates the two are exclusives, in which case, you would say something like, "PS4's exclusives don't really do it for me." Do you see the difference? You would attribute your distaste to the exclusives and not the console itself because to say you don't like it as a console would be to say you don't like the X1 as a console as well because they're, well, the same. So this is my contention: if you are a die hard XBOX ONE fan, then I am telling you right now that you like the PS4 as well. And vice versa. Don't give me this bullshit about how you love the X1 so much and you're a huge fan and then sit there and tell me that you hate the PS4. If you are one of these people, I would love to hear your explanation for what is so different about these two consoles that you are able to absolutely love one of them and hate the other. EDIT: just so there is not any confusion, I want to make clear (yes, it is the unpopular opinion) that I am all for console wars; i think they are fun. But only when the consoles that are warring are actually different. I don't see any fun in two consoles that are identical warring. I dont see the point and it's completely ridiculous. |
Interesting...I'd have to agree and disagree at the same time.
I agree that the two consoles are so much alike that its kinda strange to have a war considering that both share most of the games via multiplats.
However, it all boils down to exclusives, which isn't just a handfull, not by a long shot

but thats besides the point, with all the retail and indie games that are exclusive to each console, those are more than jsut a hand full wich should be enough to sway any one to buy one over the other.
both maybe similar tech wise, but there are more than enough exclusive games to make them different, hence the console wars
But if you really want to look at a true war..think SNES VS GENESIS...now that was a true war. aside from the hand full of multiplats, most games were exlusive to one or the other. only games i could think of that were multiplats were ummm... mortal kombat and... well street fighter 2...kinda.. the snes had the world warriorsa and the championship ed while the genesis had that hyper thing so... yeah. ...ahh... now that was what you call a true war!
Because there will always be fanboys to a company, thus resulting in a console war. It's been this was since the SNES vs Genesis days
@OP They are not the same, the ps4 is very different to the xbox one and thats why i chose it over the other consoles.
-Controller is different. i like also the symbols as a button layout more than XYAB. They are iconic and part of the brand. And who the hell came to he idea using XY anyways? Why not just ABCD like the neo geo did?
-It has different exclusives not avaible to somewhere else.
-i can play my games while i am installing the game, its the best of both world. Installing for stability and performance but playing meanwhile like on all consoles before. The xbox one doesnt offer that, it handels the games like a pc.
- the features are better imo, we can record footage for 15 minutes, now we can change the button layout, zooming in every game, our trophy moments are now captured showing you a screeshot of the moment, share play etc.
i actually like the console war as its fun

There is a war? Funny, last I looked, all three were playing nice and whispering sweet nothings. Seriously. Sony has said that Nintendo is needed in the industry. Microsoft has congratulated Sony for it's sales. It's all one big love fest these days.
The SNES and Genesis? PS1 and N64? Now THOSE were wars.
