+ The friendly aatmosphere the diverse pool of active users, the forum layout itself

- Lack of leadership. My advice to anyone looking at making such a venture as their own site would be to ensure they are always and 100% committed to every single user. Fortunately we have a strong mod team and now a good Writing tea,  but there is little to no activity above and beyond that.

You're posts are always interesting to read, Cone. You're the most proactive mod too. You show an appropriate amount of professionalism and quirkinesses in each of your posts, which is a sign of a good user who happens to be a committed mod. Other mods are great too when they actually engage with the community. However, I've noticed there were periods when the team was very strict with the rules and very loose in others.

I love the diverse community. I love the intelligent users, and I adore the sarcastic ones. The community is the reason I've joined of course. We still have the usual divisive threads. They're not as entertaining as they used to because they lost their novelty to me. Some users are not aware for the fact that they're not just posting their opinions but also creating content for both users and lurkers. I wish they can be more critical or more polite in how they interpret bad news. I'm well aware that they're not representatives of anything but it's annoying that these threads are the most active ones. They make me question what I'm doing here sometimes.

This post is not a response you're post, Cone (just the first part). I just wanted to say how awesome you are because sometimes dogs and Mudkip gifs are not enough :P.

You are too kind Pie. Or maybe not kind enough. I'm not so sure.

Either way, thanks for the kind words. You also make a lot of good points.

Also don't worry about it Mr.Playstation. I sorta deserved it so it's OK. My initial post came off as far more scathing than I'd have liked...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

lol damn, cats out of the bag now......I bought VGC guys ;P lol

But for real i miss the old PSNation and Pezus as well.  Still love you Gooch, no worries xD

So it's your fault the sales don't update anymore? Get him guys!

Well gee, way to throw me under the bus ka-pi :P

The good: me.
The bad: everyone else.

No, I'm just kidding. I would definitely say the community is the best part of the site. The bad would be the slow pace of sales figures and parts of the game database are a bit flawed.

Official Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Thread

I like:
>friendly-ish community
>chartz
>polls
>free signatures

I don't like:
>No ignore feature
>No likes'/yeah's
>No 'rich text reply' from the very start when scrolling down to post things.
>Images do not work without using tree button
>Youtube videos do not auto-embed.
>Signature limits.

7.5/10. The forum itself is "Good and a bit".

Good: Community, forum, sales numbers, potential of the database

Bad: Seems like the owner doesn't care about the site, needs more graphs like it use to have, never updated. Basically everything's fine how it is, just needs a lot more TLC to fix it up and make it look like it's not an abandoned site, which is nice that it's finally starting now but it didn't have to wait 3 years.  Also if ioi would talk to the users and explain his situation I feel like people wouldn't say shit about the site or the numbers being late, but by ignoring everyone he just seems a little egotistical.

The good: The community

The bad: A noticeable drop in interesting threads compared to 2014, might have something to do with the constant lack of numbers

Honestly, the community is both the best and worst part of vgc.
It's so great that the community is small and intimate and you generally know who everyone is and what their story is. That part is awesome, and I love the members here.
Unfortunately, the members here are also terrible. There is no community here.
Nobody goes to gaming events. Nobody does anything. Nobody participates. Even such an intricate game as bloodborne only has a couple hundred posts.

On top of which there are many bad eggs here as well. There is an indoctrination which I have personally witnessed first hand and there is a lot of shit talking going on behind the scenes. Vgc is like a nice little gated community hiding a deep dark secret like, they are all cannibals or something.

Honestly, and this is hard for me to say, but I truly think gaf is a much better community.
If you make a post saying you're going to some wisconsin cheese festival, you will actually get comments and even meet others. If you make a thread about getting a multiplayer civ tournament going, it will actually work.

This forum is 90% spam and trash. On most any day you can find the front page is full ofgarbage like "what is the best ad on vgc", "best controller elimination game", and "would such and such crossover be a great game".
Like "longest single session of playing one game" has 81 posts. 81!
Kojima leaving Konami currently has 117. Like, this is the single biggest piece of news all year. This is gigantic. On top of the whole name wiping scandal and the rift.

VGC is like facebook where everyone chimes in for a post, and nobody ever says anything relevant. That's the problem with chartz.

I'm sorry to anyone involved, but that's how it is.

So remind me again what these threads are for. It almost looks like you're trying to collect data on what people like and dislike for some, I don't know, project perhaps?

Clarity would be nice Jay. Because the mod team have made several threads like this and it just looks like you're making a mockery of how this site works.

Classic Cone.

I laughed hard with that one.

Sadly most of the rest is true. I'd love to be part of a real community like you describe but the fact that I live in the end of the world and my time zones are completely different from everyone makes it difficult to participate in those activities. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one with that kind of issue though.

To add I am pretty sure that people just talk about the members when they talk about the "community". It's obvious that we are all a bunch of lonely islands in a big island called the internet.

PS: I love you all guys though! Well... as much as you can love a piece of paper with words written on it. Or in this case, a bunch of words in the monitor of my laptop!

I completely agree.

There is an overwhelming amount of needless topics that don't foster any meaningful discussion. As I've mentioned elsewhere, users will far too often create new threads to express a thought that could have been placed in one of four other threads discussing virtually the same topic. All of these pointless threads push interesting threads out of view and hinder the better threads.
