Honestly, the community is both the best and worst part of vgc.
It's so great that the community is small and intimate and you generally know who everyone is and what their story is. That part is awesome, and I love the members here.
Unfortunately, the members here are also terrible. There is no community here.
Nobody goes to gaming events. Nobody does anything. Nobody participates. Even such an intricate game as bloodborne only has a couple hundred posts.

On top of which there are many bad eggs here as well. There is an indoctrination which I have personally witnessed first hand and there is a lot of shit talking going on behind the scenes. Vgc is like a nice little gated community hiding a deep dark secret like, they are all cannibals or something.

Honestly, and this is hard for me to say, but I truly think gaf is a much better community.
If you make a post saying you're going to some wisconsin cheese festival, you will actually get comments and even meet others. If you make a thread about getting a multiplayer civ tournament going, it will actually work.

This forum is 90% spam and trash. On most any day you can find the front page is full ofgarbage like "what is the best ad on vgc", "best controller elimination game", and "would such and such crossover be a great game".
Like "longest single session of playing one game" has 81 posts. 81!
Kojima leaving Konami currently has 117. Like, this is the single biggest piece of news all year. This is gigantic. On top of the whole name wiping scandal and the rift.

VGC is like facebook where everyone chimes in for a post, and nobody ever says anything relevant. That's the problem with chartz.

I'm sorry to anyone involved, but that's how it is.

I laughed hard with that one.

Sadly most of the rest is true. I'd love to be part of a real community like you describe but the fact that I live in the end of the world and my time zones are completely different from everyone makes it difficult to participate in those activities. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one with that kind of issue though.

To add I am pretty sure that people just talk about the members when they talk about the "community". It's obvious that we are all a bunch of lonely islands in a big island called the internet.

PS: I love you all guys though! Well... as much as you can love a piece of paper with words written on it. Or in this case, a bunch of words in the monitor of my laptop!
