Neh, Demo's can have controlled sections while the rest of the game can be awful so I don't really care either ways

I almost never play a demo anyway unless its the demo of a zomfg game like SSB or something

What is your primary motivator for a purchase?

Personal Interest followed by reviews/scores!

So if its a genre/franchise that I like, that will be my first checkmark cause I won't really care for games like Bread Simulator even if that were to get high scores and then reviews/scores. I mostly use Metacritic cause I don't really trust the opinion of any single reviewer since many have different tastes so metacrtic just jumbles them all up into one. Its not a perfect system but there isn't much of an alternative

I'd say looking up gameplay is a pretty good alternative.

Neh, I don't really want spoilers before I play the game

Demos are almost universally bad for business so I don't see that happening any time soon.

So dishonesty is the best policy. Its amazing how the world works. I actually purchased more because of rentals and demos.

Referring to the lack of demos as "dishonesty" is a little over the top, don't you think? There are also more reasons why demos can hurt sales other than the game being of lacking quality.

I actually have several demos on my 3DS. I've also downloaded some on my Wii U and PS3 but I've deleted them since. Overall, I agree that there should be more of them but considering developers usually have no confidence in their products, I don't see them making a resurgence anytime soon.

Demos are not even a good thing when you have companies like Ubisoft showing off Watch Dogs and AC Unity with better performance and better visuals on the demo than on the final game.

Ah someone else who agrees with me about this! Just made a status about it a few days ago actually haha I miss PS Underground a lot. I would love to start having access to a wide range of demos again

man I miss demos, I miss them a lot for both nostalgic reasons and possible purchase ones.

I remember coming home from school once every 2 or more weeks I;d go to my local newsagents and buy myself a PS magazine that would come with the PS Essentials demo disk, I'd spend so much time with the magazine and then egtting to try the demo's with their different UI's each disk with different games to try out and then buy, it was a really good time back then for me, heck if it wasn't for my next door neibour getting me into PS magazine and giving me a few of their demos I probably wouldn't have gotten into Resident Evil/MGS or at least to a later date.

Today I'll be lucky if I can even find a legal demo of a game, especially on Steam, the more modern way I hear of people (even next door neighbour's kid who's 16) trying out new games as demos is to "download" a copy even though we know where that option stems from.

I can't blame them though, today we hardly ever get demos of all the games that are coming out, if anything we pay to get into Alpas and betas now, sometimes they don't even reach completion and sometimes they even spoil the fun and magic of the game, I know I've put money towards some early access games and had some fun but with some of them still nowhere near completion I feel burned out on them, they aren't much of a demo, more of a near complete game but sometimes they feel like demos to me with the difference being I pay a higher price for one.

I miss these neat disks though.

Think I'll watch some demo vids from the past for old times sake: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2491ZPOPXtQ

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Demo's show bad games are bad before they come out. They aren't bringing them back.

Unless they do Colonial Marines and have an awesome demo that makes people want to buy and then disappoint everyone..

Demo's are just a waste of development time just read reviews.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

I'm an extremely patient guy. I can wait days, months and years for a game(with the exception of very few). Thus, I can watch youtube videos, reviews, let's plays, get the heads up from like minded friends and read about it on forums like this one to find out if it's right for me. Alternatively, I used to use Gamefly.

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

The 3DS has a decent list of demos but I agree that other consoles could have more demos to try out
