Those numbers cant be right. 160K is the most it has ever sold and yet it has 5 games in the series?
Can FF5 sell the most in the series? | |||

160k just in the west. 229k WW.
Very low but it wouldn't surprise me if they've made their money back each time (except maybe FFIV).

Thats just insane. I thought they were million sellers. Why on earth were people surprised that the 4th game didnt make it over here...?

Because they announced it was coming, then cancelled it.

I wish they would make it like Bayonetta where you get two games in one. FFIV looks fantastic.
But I'm not gonna push my luck here. FFV is enough to satisfy me, lol.

That would be sweet, FFIV is a superb game.

I checked up on it; Nintendo themselves didn't, but the Official Nintendo Magazine did, which was why people thought it was coming.
Yes, the previous games didn't set the bar too high and this one is having more awareness from gamers.
It's weird VGC doesn't have Japanese sales for FF2 PS2 version (even though OP was able to get them from Famitsu apparently), while VGC also doesn't have European sales for FF2 Wii version. I remember seeing that game in stores.
Assuming 230k for FF2 PS2 is indeed the highest, I'd say it's possible, but still unlikely. Over 160k seems a lot to ask for this series in the west. The advantage is that it, being on WiiU, it gets more relative exposure.
Spirit Camera on 3DS sold 170k (80k US, 20k EU, 60k JP, 10k other) and Fatal Frame 4 (Zero: Tsukihami no Kamen in the database here) sold 80k (all in Japan) by the way. According to VGC at least.
