How?
Characters are only better if you do NOT include MK8 DLC characters.
The award ceremony is better. (since Mk8 does not have one but its not needed at all)
Battle mode is better (MK8 does not have one as far as I am concerned)
Thats it
2 or 3 things depending on whether you allow MK8 DLC characters or not.
I hate most courses in the game but when just looking at the course without the design surrounding it (like SHAPE ONLY) they are okay. Thats why I decided to go with maybe instead of No.
Karts is a maybe because I cannot remember DD karts so I cannot say YES or NO. (But since I forgot all of them they are probably worse than MK8 that even allows me to ride bikes, quads, Yoshi, Shoes etc)

I may have another MK8 version because the one I have played has boring music.

Mario Kart 8 is a lot better than Double Dash
Double Dash is the second best Mario Kart

As always with Nintendos games the question arises (this time about Double Dash):
WHY is it not an option?
If they successfuly implemented the DD-function why not keep it to the next iteration, and maybe even improve it with more options (including the choice of DD - on or off).
I like Mario Kart 8 better.
Except the battle mode, everything is close to perfect. The racing is perfect.
Stopped reading at " The track are better.".. Wario Mountain is miles better than any track Double Dash has to offer.

Lots of people look at their favorite past games and nostalgia takes over, "this game was the best!" they think. My brother is the same way with Halo 2 and Halo 3, they were amazing games, but most of the gaming community has moved onto bigger, better things. Those games are now in a fast-paced, action driven era where they just can't survive. I look at Double Dash, and I have had a few people now say to me that it was the best entry in the series. ABSOLUTELY not true. MK8 is better in every way, and even Mario Kart DS, and Mario Kart 7 kick its butt. Mario Kart Wii was sort of a disappointment being the only entry on the system, but holy crap, how can you say that Double Dash is better than 8? The double component made it feel clunky, having two characters on one kart was like driving with a chain chomp dragging off your back end. It made the control much less precise, it made the in and out turning very difficult on some tracks, and it just felt slower. The tracks were great, the gameplay, not nearly as much fun. Especially the pushing function, it just got annoying in a lot of cases. Mario Kart 8 has snappy gameplay, punchy music, decent (not perfect) item selection, and online play, which is a HUGE advancement that adds more challenge and fun to the game than many may think. Gamecube had one of the greatest selections of games EVER, but Double Dash in my opinion was not exactly one of them. Also, I like being able to JUMP slide, not just slide, so that was annoying. That is all.

1. Mario Kart 8
2. Mario Kart Wii
3. Mario Kart DS
4. Mario Kart 7
5. Mario Kart Double Dash
6. Mario Kart 64
7. Mario Kart Super Circuit
8. Super Mario Kart
The tracks in double dash were fantastic and I enjoyed the special weapons each character had but the karts did not feel good in that game at all.
