To me this is just another example of Nintendo not really getting todays kids or technology.

Understanding how conservative Nintendo is with their business models, it makes sense that they like control over everything which can affect their image. They like things to be predictable with unpredictability only in the positive direction. I think this is a matter of Nintendo trying to self-regulate their image, rather than put their image in the hands of others. I think it can negatively affect them, but there are also benefits as well.

This guy doesn't even like Nintendo, it's all about money.

That's bullshit. His fans crowd funded him a wii u so he could do Nintendo reviews. He got the wii u and was about to before Nintendo flagged him On youtube with uploads he hadn't even edited yet. If Nintendo product is put up on youtube they can jump in on your profits. Nintendo is historically bad with partnerships. Now they are screwing with free publicity on youtube because they are out of touch with today's generation. When Nintendo feels like hey very lost control everyone becomes a target.

Nintendo is out of touch with today's generation. It is run by a bunch of greedy, overbearing old men who are not only controlling  over their product but also over the people they work with. This is historically true about Nintendo which is why third parties have bad relationships  with them since the 80s and 90s.

It's obvious that you never  heard him out that he likes he wii u. In fact he had more fun with it thanight he ps4 and Xbox one combined. Nintendo just always gets in the way.

You know, someone needs to sue Nintendo. And I say that cause I like them, I really do. But some people only learn the hard way. So if a YouTuber does a review and gets a claim and has the means to drag the big N to court, please do. They need to learn their lesson and if the burnt hand is the only form of education they understand, so be it.

I don't think anybody wants that, because then lets say, hypothetically, Nintendo wins and the precedent is set down either that nobody can make legally make money off of let's plays, or worse, that YouTube has to take down all Lets Plays that aren't published by the content owners.

Essentially, the whole concept is a legal grey area, and you risk it all with a roll of the dice by suing.

It's similar to what Verizon did with the old net-neutrality rules. The old rules were a grey area that gave ISPs some leeway, but Verizon wanted more, so sued the FCC and got the rules struck down by the Supreme Court, but it forced the FCC to implement title II regulations which are much worse, from the ISP's point of view.

Suing will take an ambiguous thing and make it unambiguous, but it creates the possibility that someone operating in the margins will lose everything, just as likely as they could win everything.

Also: to the thread in general, do NOT use this as an excuse to bash the Nintendo fandom. I can agree with criticizing Nintendo with this case, certainly, but make it about fans and you're going to get taken down.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Nintendo is run by old, out of touch, Japanese businessmen who don't understand things like Western Youtube viral marketers and the like.

So stuff like this is going to happen, it's more predictable than anything.

I agree the policies are stupid, but his subtle manner of how he conveys his message was not well done.
He constantly goes off on "Nintendo fanboys" like they're the sole reason for the policy. Even if all the fans argued against Nintendo, they'd still have the policy in place, they do what they want to do.

Second, he didn't even buy the Wii U. His fans had to buy it for him, and he acts all entitled when he never supported Nintendo before. Definitely seems like just money, which is fine for him, but when he never talked about it before, I can't take his word that seriously.

What you know about Joe is half truth. Try following him. You will get your answer.

If his fans had to crowd fund a Wii U for him that pretty much says it all :p

What is half true? That his fans bought his Wii U?

I don't really follow him, but what's the other half of the answer?

I don't see how that changes anything whatsoever. He had videos on Youtube that violated Nintendo's policies so they got removed. Simple as that. It doesn't matter what his intention was.
