Almost everyone here has already suggested the big games. You should also look at OG Wii games too. Xenoblade Chronicles, Pandora's Tower, and The Last Story are the trio of OG Wii games you should pick up at some point. I'd also recommend Muramasa, Sakura Wars, and I'd recommend Rayman Legends. Its a really good platformer.

if you get digital games, and find a white 50$ cheaper than the black, get it. a black wii U will need an HDD anyway, so use the 50$ extra money to get the HDD.
Buy also a pro-controller, is in my top 3 best controllers ever and the games will need it, more than wiimotes.

Games:
-DKCTF - is pure love, my favorite game.
-Bayonetta 1&2,2 great games in a single pack.
-Mario kart 8 is the best MK game, and it will soon get better, the 12$ DLC with half content of full game and the 200c DLC is a great adiction.
-Smash bros for those who like it. I personally find this smash bros with the best gameplay, roster and multiplayer.
-Mario 3D world is a great game.

And the must have upcoming games:
-Seems that you like jRPGs, so, you cant miss xenoblade X. xenoblade is one of the best jRPGs ever created. and this seems to be even better, adding new gameplay features, dolls for even more exploration, a bigger world, and non linearity.

Mario & Sonic @ Sochi 2014 w/blue wiimote bundle is a great deal... Pikmin 3, Trine, Wii Fit U, Club Sports, Mario Kart 8, Tekken Tag, Mario U are all good times. There are more but I think they've already been mentioned.

You HAVE to buy Pikmin 3, Bayonetta 2 and Mario Kart 8.

At least you got graduation money. I worked my ass off...not a single dime. Honored twice in a row for straight A's...not a single penny.

My only advice is to get the white one. It's cheaper, and the only benefit to getting the black one, the DDP, is over. Just get an HDD and save yourself some money. Also, it's probably a good idea to get it refurbished, as Nintendo really does a good job making them feel new.

Use that saved money for some games.
