Some recent things it has accurately shown is DQX Wii U having a bigger opening than XCX, but XCX having better legs, Girls Mode 3 having really good legs, P&D: SMB Edition having a better opening (and legs) than XCX, etc. It also currently shows The Witcher 3 as being the top selling released game, which will be true in the next MC chart.
For the most part, I've found that it's fairly accurate but it's most important to pay attention to the number of days each item stays in the chart. A game can shoot up to the top for a day but ultimately that's not as relevant as a game staying in the top 20 for weeks on end.
