That's not at all what they advertized in that initial trailer, though. They advertized this:

I'm hyped for it. I'm also glad it isn't a SRPG. The only good SRPG is Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time v.v and I knew it wouldn't be anything like WoT if they made it more FE heavy.

Really?  Maybe you should look at the trailer again.  All the fights seem to take place in a circular arena surrounded by a cheering audience.  now, obviously it isn't a fighting game which is why I said almost.  However, you could easily cut out bits of the trailer and most people would think it is a fighting game with characters doing all sorts of special moves.  It isn't that far of leap...

It looks like the battle screen of literally any 3D turn-based RPG, dude. It's just dressed like an arena, because there's a clear running them of fame, live television, and being an idol in this game. Almost all the characters appear on posters throughout the trailer, as if they were famous. It's set dressing, like the TVs in P4. None of the characters in those arenas were moving around like one would in a fighting game. They were being animated like Pokemon doing attacks in a Stadium game, only your Pokemon are around the outer layers circle while the enemy Pokemon are in the center of it.

The moves look like "special moves" in fighting games because "special moves" in fighting games are just context sensitive cutscenes, which is literally a concept stolen from attack animations in turn based RPGs. This game looks literally nothing like a fighting game.

Of course I noticed that, but when 45% of the debut gameplay trailer was magical school girl anime fights, while the other 45% was a slice of life high school anime sim, it's hard to believe that the 10% that are moments like that are anything but the most minor focus.

You are exaggerating what was shown so you can feel better about your opinion. Just please stop lol

Come on, dude. The trailer was literally 90% variations of those two things.
