I'm expecting NX will release in 2017 to be honest. When has Nintendo ever announced new Gen hardware and released it in the same year?

This is what I'm thinking.

This.

Not really, if Fire Emblem launches in February 2016 like you said, then NX (if it's a handheld) will launch during the holiday

Nintendo isn't afraid to still support a system outside a few of their less successful ones (and strangely the Wii) after or just before its successor drops.

Heck the last Fire Emblem game for the SNES/Super Famicom came out in 1998 or 1999 if I remember right.

Seriously, it's like these people don't remember every other Nintendo console announcement since the SNES.

Not even a little bit, dude. It just means the 3DS is getting games on its final year.

This.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Not going to happen ever again.

E3 will drop the bombs for this year3ds titles!

I really want to believe this is true, but I don't feel confident. Usually E3 seems to wind up being more console-focused for Nintendo overall. And I feel like if they're readying a new system, they need to have their development teams working on games for that system now, so they'll actually have something at launch and games to flesh out its first year. So that leaves New 3DS likely to get a few stray gems and likely more Wii ports like Xenoblade and DKCR. But Wii or even GC ports aren't exactly E3 material I wouldn't think. Though I suppose with the Treehouse format they can highlight some smaller 3DS games, since it's usually only the really big ones (like Pokemon or Mario) that make the actual E3 Direct, which is otherwise generally more console-focused.

Unrelated: I still want to know why the heck they decided NOT to show Zelda at E3. Talk about a hype killer. Also...anybody else find it odd that there were virtually no games actually confirmed for summer (June/July/August) in yesterday's Direct for North America? Europe at least gets Yoshi..

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

Of course not. The 3DS just launched with the ability to play bigger and better games as dubbed the "New 3DS" This expands the 3DS life by at least a couple of years if devs can research the best ways to expand accordingly to the new GPU.

I mean come on, we're getting Xenoblade. On a handheld. If we don't get more out of that in the future, then I won't even understand the point in making a brand new 3DS model.

This just in: We're in for a treat (and not just for the long-awaited Xenoblade)
