Unless they have third party they will always lose 4th quarter to their competitors because thats what the majority of gamers want. It doesn't matter which console its on. Sony would never have been as dominant as they were if Nintendo would stop being ignorant and start playing ball.

Trust me on this, if Nintendo starts off their next gen properly with third party in hand gamers of all kinds will follow them. How do I know this? Look at the sales of the SNES and NES and compare it to the stability of their other conoles. Exclusives should always be the decision making variable which sweetens the deal when pleading a console-maker's case (when it comes to a purchase).

I never said they win the 4th quarter, lol. I said that's the most important period for them, which it is.

True. That brings me to another point. Nintendo and Sony have closer schedules than Nintendo to Microsoft. They are more willing to launch games year round even though all three value the fourth quarter (just not as much as Microsoft.)

Oh, for sure. Sony I think launches games whenever they feel like and Nintendo is kinda obligated to release games year-round because they don't have the luxury of third party to fall back on. They're both fairly efficient with it though.

Couldn't I flip that and say sony only cares for the first few months of the year. The Order-Feb, Bloobourne-March........Uncharted 4-Q1/Q2 2016. That could be well over 1 year gap.

yes you can! but then i ask you which strategy is working better?

Playstation is selling well the entire year, xone is selling only two months of the year with heavy "please buy our console" deals.

...and they cannot cut price this year without reporting major losses for the Xbox brand. Microsoft will opt for dual bundles for Tomb Raider and Halo 5 bundles at $350-$400.  Its the only thing that will salvage their year.
