Nintendo's Newest Game to be Kid-Safe

By Misato Katsuragi Published 01/04/2015
TOKYO (JPN) - Speaking with the Juukyuusai no Seifuku, an influential Parents and Teachers organization in Tokyo's Himegoto district, Nintendo's Koyomi "Yomi" Mizuhara assured attendees that the video-game giant's newest property Splatoon--an online shooter in the mold of Call of Duty--would take every measure possible to protect children from adult gamers intent on ruining the fun of others.
"Yes, we've thought through all (of that), and our response is to develop a method where players will be matched with other players in the same age group." Mr. Mizuhara referenced a slide that displayed a registration process that had to be completed each time the game was launched. "We don't want that, we don't want these adults who look to hurt feelings to target children," he continued, "and so we will protect our precious children by only allowing adults to play against adults. This way we make everyone feel both excited and peaceful. This is how we answer, with solutions others do not grasp."
Splatoon is scheduled to appear in 2015 and will make use of the Wii's futuristic tablet controller.

I don't really think that's too bad of an idea, would be nice to see other games do the same as well.
Under 13 division
13-18 division
18+ division

Its not a bad idea, but this is one of the rare times where people who are different age groups are in a shooter. CoD was supposed to be a M rated game but it still doesn't stop kids from playing it.
This is a really good idea. Personally, I wouldn't want to think that the people I'm playing with are children either. It's not like I play/communicate with children anyway in day-to-day life, so it makes playing the game sort of relevant to how I see gaming in my personal life.
And looking out for the community, good job Yomi
Man this would actually make online worth paying for lol. Too bad it was posted today....
Kids can be quite mean... I don't think this will benefit the online experience the way they think it will.

No but kids being mean to one another isn't nearly as bad as adults being mean to kids
For example, if I get a call from my kids teacher saying my daughter has been getting picked on by one of her classmates, we would likely set up a meeting between the kids, parents and teacher to find out what is causing the problem and go about it like normal people.
On the other hand, if I get a call from my kids teacher saying my daughter has been getting harassed by the 50 year old creepy janitor, I'm gonna find that guy and beat the shit out of him.

That'd be pretty interesting if it actually was implemented. Not sure how well it would work though

Let's split the community of a console with a small install base, and a game that probably wont rock the world with sales. That's a great idea, we all love waiting a long time for lobbies.
