Forums - Nintendo - STOP talking about Zelda being delayed and Wii U being dead

Thank you. Wii U is far from dead. Its gonna have games releasing until 2017-2018. I would not worry :)

I agree till 2017. 2018 though? Not so much. Mainly because that would be a six year lifetime for the console on the market and Nintendo doesn't support their home consoles for more than 5 years (except for the Wii). November 2017 is when I expect the replacment for the Wii U.

If the game is on the NX... There is no reason to play the wiiU version since the NX will probably be the best version. And not to mention that I will lose faith on Nintendo's ability to deliver me games on the platform I purchased so instead of buying their consoles at launch in the future, I will be buying it only when the games that I want comes out

It isn't petty... It's logical and reasonable... When the NX launches, it will have games for it anyway that will make it sell where as what will the wiiU have? Nothing... Why hamper sales of software on the wiiU when you can have software sales on both the wiiU and NX? It really shouldnt even be that hard to see

It is not about whether or not more people get to enjoy the game, it is about having confidence on Nintendo to deliver the games that is expected of them. A dedicated Zelda game is expected of Nintendo for every platform they release, whether it be a success or a failure and they have delivered that so far and I doubt they will stop now. If they release it on NX and wiiU, then I will lose my confidence on Nintendo because their games will then be highly dependent on the success or failure of their platform so instead of me buying their console at launch, I will no longer do so

And no... They should not go for it because the NX will have both software and hardware sales regardless... This way, they can have the NX sales + wiiU sales as well instead of completely butchering the sales of the wiiU and their future console market

Or you know NX might have the third sh*tty launch in a row for Nintendo and be the end of Nintendo as viable hardware producer.

Launch games don't magically grow on trees, what would the Wii launch window have looked like without repurposed GameCube projects?

No TP, no Super Paper Mario, no Fire Emblem ... I get

Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wario Ware, and then like a 6 month gap until Mario Party for the first 10 months.

You think that would've worked out well?

What's done is done with the Wii U ... it's a sales turd, nothing is changing that now, if they can get more sales for the game and improve their launch window for the NX by using Zelda ... they should do it.

You know people cried and whined when Nintendo announced TP for the Wii too, right? They cited the same reasons as you are and I remember many were saying they'd never buy the Wii, Nintendo promised them TP on GCN, Nintendo promised them realistic Zelda for 5 years, blah, blah, blah. Now in hindsight, they look very silly and they all ended up buying the Wii anyway, so what difference did it make.

Well, I highly doubt Nintendo's handheld will have a shitty launch since if there is one thing that they always got right, it is their handhelds... And if there is one thing they should learn from the 3ds, its to not over price it which was the issue with the 3ds launch.

And yes, I agree that launch games don't grow on trees hence why Nintendo needs to plan that ahead of time which they did with plenty of their handhelds and their consoles. The NX will have games at launch because the 3ds has fuck all so where is all that development going into that is missing from the 3ds? The NX of course! And they are still making games for the wiiU because they most likely need more time for their next gen console so instead of butchering the sales of the wiiU and kill their console market entirely...

And we both know the wii didn't sell so highly cause of the games but rather the motion controls and its ability to entertain the casuals

And the thing with the wiiU is that it is still selling... It is up YoY... It's high profile software and even its mid-tier software all sell over 1 million lifetime which brings in profits. There is no reason for them to kill the wiiU because they will have a second source of income while they are launching the NX and they will also make sure that it doesn't kill their future console because if they launch the handheld with zero noteable software for the wiiU, that draught is going to be huge and no one would buy their next console. The wiiU doesn't sell much in terms of hardware, I agree but it is still up YoY and its software sells a respectable amount... It will just make them more money as they transition into their next gen handheld next year and their next gen console a year after. As soon as people hear the NX is a handheld, the 3ds sales will tank and so will the sales of the handheld division so they need to make money for 6 or so months until the NX will actually launch and they can do that easily with the wiiU and they have done exactly that with their past generations. They make most amount of their money on software, not hardware and they are better off selling a $60 game on the wiiU + wiiU Hardware which will certainly also be profitable than $40 game on the NX  because the NX will sell anyway

Yes, they cried but you can justify it to a degree saying that the GC had its own dedicated Zelda... This will have zero justification

Yeah i guess november 2017 i can see aswell. but wait wait, so do you think the NX will be a nintendo handheld and a home console at the same time? Thats very interesting, maybe they release at the same time, ots maybe its even the same hardware but just split :) idk im so excited, but anyway I think we gonna see some really cool games from nintendo 2016 and 2017 for sure, like metroid, kid icarus , animal crossing, hopefully pokken. Fire emblem, maybe F-zero. Wii U is gonna have a great game library im sure of it :) it already has

Thank you OP! :D

OMG, lol. That was such a dark time for gaming. Funniest part of it all is that Bloodborne came out a month later xD

It was fucking awful. Everytime I logged on there'd be a new Order thread.

Wii U is not dead because of Zelda's delayment. It is dead because of lack of third party support, low end hardware, weird controller and so.

What do they have to justify?

Like the game is already being delayed to 2016 no matter what.

Will the game be sweeter/better for you knowing that it's sales potential is crippled and there are probably 2-3 million people who won't get to play the game? All you guys complaining about this know damn well you're going to buy an NX at some point anyway, let the NX people enjoy the game too. Their $50 is not worth any less than yours.

Again I just think this whole reasoning is childish and petty, "they promised me this game, and I don't want to share it with anyone!". Gimme a break.

Wii U is selling like steamed crap, even the GameCube was selling far better, so it being up YoY over a pathetic baseline is hardly anything to throw a party over. That's likely saying 350 pound guy is now only 347 pounds after a full year of dieting. I mean yeah it's an improvement, but lets not get it twisted -- dude is still fat as fuck.

If you are true Nintendo fan IMO, you will recoginize that for NINTENDO'S sake having the game sell maybe as much as 3x more and having a sure fire killer app for the NX launch while still delivering the same game to Wii U owners is also what's best for Nintendo's business and for Zelda as a franchise too.

I don't know if you noticed, but the Zelda series isn't exactly selling like COD or GTA these days either. Nintendo must keep the franchise relevant by introducing it to new gamers, not just appeasing one little group of die-in-the-wool Nintendo fans on the Wii U. Anything Nintendo can do to expand the brand at this point is again a benefit, not the catastrophe you guys try to paint it as.

I'm saying that the NX could be 3DS's successor and not the Wii U's. But it is possible for Nintendo to be thinking of a fusion console.

Wii U is selling like steamed crap, even the GameCube was selling far better, so it being up YoY over a pathetic baseline is hardly anything to throw a party over. That's likely saying 350 pound guy is now only 348 pounds after a year of dieting. It's really not a big deal.

Justify why people should support their future consoles if the games on it are depent on whether or not it is a success because if its a failure, they will screw over the userbase which leads to mistrust in the market

Games being delayed isn't an issue... That is easily justifyable because they are adding more things in

Again, its not about whether or not more people are playing it, it is about their games being dependent on whether or not the console is successful. The best way to gain confidence and loyalty is to stick with ur console/handheld even if they aren't selling up to snuff and the best way to lose it is to move on without delivering what people expect. That is exactly what Sega did and look where they are now

It is kind of interesting how from our past conversations, it seems that a) You don't know much about hardware b) You don't know much about software and now c) You don't know how gaming hardware transition works

WiiU is selling like crap, yes... But it is still selling both hardware and software, specially software. They don't want to transition everything to the NX at the sametime because they need money during the transition period... They will most likely announce the NX in spring of 2016, reveal it at e3 and either launch it in holiday 2016 or spring 2017. As soon as they announce it, the sales of the 3ds will tank and they need something for the rest of the year to help with their income which the wiiU will do with games like Zelda and whatever they else got in 2016. Then when they actually launch the NX + 4 months when it really starts to stablize, they can let go of the wiiU after and use the NX's money to help launch their next gen console. They have done this in the past many times and its a great strat for a reason. What you are suggesting is a one way ticket to losing money for almost a year which they don't need...
