Forums - Sales Discussion - Japanese store stops selling PS3s due to poor sales

FishyJoe said:

The PSP software is selling badly. Only 57k vs 869k for the DS. That's terrible. Most of the profit comes from the software sales.

OMG.is there that big of a difference????? That is a huge gap!!!

Information about no longer carrying new products

We regret to announce...

PlayStation 2
PlayStation 3
PlayStation Portable

As well as all related items will no longer be carried as of April 30th.
Please accept our apologies.

wowwwwwww

what a troll????????

x360 is the least selling console in Japan with 2.5k consoles sold per week.

ps3 and ps2 beats it 5:1 and psp 12:1.

If a store reallly stops selling any console then it should be x360.

may be the store above ran out of ps products.

MODS:- Dont make this forum a safe heaven for trolls?

One store doing that doesn't mean anything.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Maybe they already stopped selling the 360 already?

I don't see how this constitutes trolling. AFAIK, nothing has been said that is untrue or ranting.

110,000 PS2 software sold in Japan last week.  That store is obviously in trouble.

They obviously ran out of ps products or are in some sort of hassle with SONY

- 1st of All... I wanna apologize for Nintendo fans who eliminate the balance of the forums... (Like threath starter poster, 'but he has PS4 in his name?!...'...)

But 2nd of all: I don't think he's trolling... Just showing what a shop is doing at the moment!... But i don't think they'l stop selling Sony stuff... Cause that'd be STUPID!... They make profit on Sony's hardware and software so WTF?!...

Conclusion: This shop is in some SERIOUS trouble... Cause it'd be stupid to stop selling Sony products... Especially with PS2 still strong and PSP doing mediocre to good... (Not to compare with DS cause its a freaking truck that can't be stopped...)

THE NETHERLANDS

Ok, posting news with no editorial comments whatsoever isn't trolling guys, it's just news. That's like saying all the media who say how many soldiers were killed in Iraq today are just trolling the pro-war people. :P

On the other hand, the picture is broken and there's no link, so this doesn't really qualify as news.

As someone who runs a forum that receives well over 100k posts a year, I absolutely love it when posters tell me how to run my own site.

I'm sure the mods here feel the same way.

Looking at the yearly hardware and software totals in Japan, it becomes clear that the PS2 and PS3 are not moving much hardware and the PSP and PS3 are not moving much software:

Hardware:

Console Year Total
2,860,17916,913,437
1,428,2462,401,714
853,1295,467,970
432,622905,227
328,21021,815,246
98,596383,910
38,37816,682,376
6,6684,020,318
Total 6,046,028

Software Totals:

Console Year Total
14,563,87966,706,593
4,242,387118,359,213
3,599,2395,637,292
2,199,73810,815,561
720,7431,176,122
383,6701,276,119
194,15146,643,808
15,7148,646,086
4,12021,317,638
Total 25,923,641

At the same time the DS and Wii are moving a lot of hardware and the Wii's software totals are improving at a pretty steady rate.

Generally speaking, stores hate carying hardware because it is expensive, takes up a lot of space and they have (very) poor margins on it; in theory (with current sales) the store may have wanted to stop carying PS2 or PS3 hardware and Sony threatened that they couldn't sell any Playstation products if they stopped supplying PS2/PS3 hardware.
