Random encounters? Oh gosh, who still does that shit?

Um nobody does. That was the point of this post. "If you are a fan of traditional Final Fantasy".

I would not want every game to have random encounters but it is nice once in a great while and it has been a great while.

I think this is bad advice if i ever saw it.

Fans of the classics will in no way enjoy type-0. Its nothing like them. 4 moves per character, summons require the sacriice of a character for the remainder of the mission. Small envyronmentb and repetitive missions, underdeveloped characters and incohesive narrative.
I see all the ingredients for purists to dislike it. For me, the worst is the limited combat and grindiness.

ya that grinding will turn off all the pureist.... Dont look at them as characters, look at them as a specific move set that you can employ in certain situations.

I will give it a try when I get a PS4

Yeah, I mean seeing the enemy, activating all your buffs before you go in or even just walking around them is so much more fun.

It makes a hell of a lot more sense than randomly fighting two deformed lions or mech soldiers or goblins (or whatever else you fight in a final fantasy game)
Giving a player the choice to go into battle or avoid it is the optimum choice, rather than making travel a pain in the ass when you gotta go into a fight with all the low level riffraff.

Fair enough. I hope you can see why it has been phased out. It makes travel a pain in the dick most of the time when you just need to get from point A to point B.
